Has anyone heard of/have experience with Biotoecus Opercularis?

I found it whilst browsing randomly on a wholesalers website, never heard of it before but looks awesome and suitable for small tanks apparently, don't know why I've never heard it mentioned/suggested before!

The wholesaler gave it's common name as fairy cichlid but when I Google fairy cichlid it comes up as something completely different so no idea what it's common name is otherwise. Maybe dwarf fairy cichlid?

Here is how I would approach this:

Go to fishbase.se

The front page looks like this below. Note where “Scientific Name” can be entered, “Genus + Species” — this is the Latin binomial name you already have…

Once searched, each catalogued fish has its own base page…

Now, at the very top of the page, just above the single representative photograph, you see a link titled “Pictures.” Click that. It sends you to a gallery where aquarists have uploaded their photos…

Beneath the photos, names are linked that will provide you with data voluntarily entered by the photo uploader (i.e. Bornstein, A.) — click that to review the collaborator profile…

And now… this data is from 2004… so you have a name, gmail and an old website to chase down. A bit of ye olde googling renders…

All of which is to say… he has your answers.

Thanks! I found the first page you mentioned and the page on seriously fish website and an old article from Amazonas but the details disagreed, didn't think of chasing down content contributers! Might have to shoot them an email and see if they mind sharing their experience. Probably better than just taking the plunge and ordering a couple and seeing how they do haha
