TifNee837
Just curious if anyone could maybe help me ID this is a plant? The owner of my local mom-n-pop petshop ordered it a few weeks ago, and it came it in really rough shape, so she put it out in their outdoor pond / tubs - and it's started to turn around - except she has no idea what it is! 🤦🏻♀️ Any thoughts? 😊
Colu
Looks like Amazonian frogbit
Dwayne Brown
That's amazon frogbit. I am not sure if you have it but it, but if you have a phone and download google lens it makes plant and fish id much easier. Don't trust it 100% but it narrows down the options and does a pretty good job of positively identifying stuff. kammaroon
That's not amazon frogbit. It could be water poppy, Hydrocleys nymphoides.
Odd Duck
Not sure what that is but it absolutely is not Amazon frogbit. This is Amazon frogbit. Grows with paired leaves and I’ve never seen them over about 1.25” wide. Edited July 11, 2021 by Odd Duck
anewbie
100% not frogbit. Not sure what it is - doesn't look like a sword or a crypt - but looks like something that is planted.... it reminds me of my banana plant (after it dropped the banana 😉 )but the leaf structure is not quite right. Nuggets Beard
Used to work at a pond supply store. That is water poppy.
Sombat
Greetings. I have this great App called Picture This. It identifies plants just by taking a photo of the leaves or is this case I used your screenshot. Here’s what they came up with. Hopefully I’m not breaking any copyright laws. Odd Duck
@Sombat The app didn’t hit it in this case. The plant the app choose is different with a deeply cleft leaf. I’ve grown those and they reliably have the cleft leaf like other water lily type plants. Water poppy like @Nuggets Beardsays looks right on a Google search.
