Water leak thru the bottom of the tank.

Hi,

while cleaning up my tank, i scratched the floor and its leaking. how can i seal the leak.  any videos or advice.

First, empty it before you have a disaster.

The fix, if even possible, will be AFTER the tank is empty.

agree with get it empty before it empties itself. you also cant see what exactly is wrong until it is empty.

Agree with the rest of the replies. Whatever fix is possible is only going to be be done after you see exactly how bad the leak is.  So you'll need to empty the tank. And doing so quickly can help avoid a whole cascade of other issues.

@subramn how bad did you scratch it? I just bought a 40 breeder tank at the dollar per gallon sale that has scratches on the bottom and a wall. It is like like a smaller tank or something was shipped inside it. I have not been able to do a fill test yet though. 

Is it typical for s new tank to come with some scuffs?

no i had substrate in them and while taking the substrate i scratched it. my bad. i am going to try sealing it

It is not leaking through a scratch in the bottom. It is most likely leaking where it joins the side and will need new silicon. You can try simply adding more silicon but the proper way is to remove the old silicon and then add new silicon (there are video on the web). It is possible you scrape the silicon on the side or the tank was not properly constructed. I had an aqueon spontaneously spring a leak before (and no i did not scrape the bottom as i had 2 inches of substrate). It was a 29 and rather than mess with redoing the silicon i just grabbed a new one since the dollar sale was on going. The tank was only a year old but aqueon didn't want to bother honoring the warranty.
