Mystery Gash on my Betta

This showed up yesterday morning. He lives in a fluval 10 gallon, one small wood piece and a few shrimp as well as one bristlenose pleco. No sharp edges that I can figure out. Treated with kanaplex yesterday fearing that it was an infection but I’m not seeing any fuzz or fluffy stuff on the cut. Any ideas how this happened?

He could have got burned  on the heater or swim into something in your tank I would finish one course of treatment with kanaplex and monitor for any signs of fungus on the wound

So update, heater has been unplugged the last week. 😬

Looking at the picture  it possible he got his head stuck in the shrimp cave and rubbed some scales off

How big is the pleco? Though I would say it is rare, in another group a couple of people talked about how their plecos attacked their bettas, even killing them. They actually watched it happen. Might want to watch to make sure he did not get attacked at some point/ watch for future incidents.
