Alann
Hello Everyone, I recently purchased a 100 gallon acrylic tank. It came with 3 drill holes that i want to cover up/patch. Im worry about leaks etc. Any recommendations, tips etc that could be helpful? Would i have to get the same thickness of acrylic to patch it up? TIA

lefty o
im sure it can be done, but i think i would try to contact someone who makes acrylic tanks, and ask for their professional opinion. it would be bad to make an attempt and have it fail, so id hate to take a guess at it.
HH Morant
Could you just put in new threaded bulkheads and screw a caps on them? Or you might be able to put a cap on the existing bulkheads. Then you could cover it up on the inside with something matching the background. I doubt that repairing the acrylic itself is an option, but maybe someone knows better. HH Morant
For what it is worth, there is a Youtube video called "how to patch an acrylic fish tank repair" in which a guy patches drilled holes in an acrylic aquarium by cementing squares of acrylic on the outside of the aquarium.
Beardedbillygoat1975
@Alannwelcome! You may end up wanting to use the drill holes down the road. Acrylic tanks last a long time and can evolve with you through your hobby. I’d take @HH Morant suggestion and just cap the bulkheads. I’m sure the sizes are standardized and caps available.
Alann
Im liking the idea of maybe just capping off the bulkheads. My only thing is now that the current background is painted blue, Might try a razor and switch it to black so it can blend in with the bulkheads. Thanks for the advice.
Guppysnail
I’m an easy route kinda person. I would use caps and glue moss or java fern to cover the holes.
Andy's Fish Den
I would just cap the bulkheads. The proper way to do anything else would be to cut yourself or have someone else cut some squares that would cover the holes and then use the proper adhesive to bond the squares to the tank.
