Dennerel snail catcher safe

i breed my bladder snails by color. Occasionally I still get the wrong colors in the wrong tanks or just some that are the wrong color all together so I give those away. I use a 3D shrimp net but it’s difficult and I have sadly occasionally harmed them.

To collect and rehome them I was considering the snail catcher option. Any used this? Will it SAFELY scoop them out without harming them. These are PETS to me not pests.

Thanks for any help

I don't actually have an answer for you, but how do you breed by color? We started with I think just one, and the one snail was a dark copper tone. That snail has produced offspring in shades of gray, beige, yellow, and dark copper. Do you tease out the colors and hope to keep the line a purer color? I'd assumed my one snail reproduced hermaphroditically but I'm not sure if that's actually the case. This is really really cool.

What colors do you have right now? And they're not pests to us, either. We love these little guys.

That is the prettiest bladder snail, I love it.

I have a Dennerle snail catcher, and for the most part it works well. Obviously it can only get them when they're on the glass. There does seem to be a thresh hold on size; larger snails often won't get scooped up, or have a danger of getting stuck in the "wheel." I'd say give one a try. It can be faster than doing it with your fingers, and for the most part safer as well.

I've not used one but this statement alone leads me to think there is plenty of potential for harming them.

"Collecting unwanted snail never been easier with Dennerle snail catcher"

Here it is in action.

Oh my yes that statement says a lot.

I found Honey in a plant I got. I’m assuming she was not fertilized as they can store store for months. I got her a 10 gallon tank planted the heck out of it with my clippings from other tanks that I quarantined to make sure they did not have any of my others on. Waited 8 weeks and got a batch. I still get odd colored ones so each of my tanks has its own color. Breeding for color may be a little to strong of a statement but I end with the majority of the correct color in the correct tanks. My display tank gets the oddballs until someone wants them because I like my display tank to be a motley of color.
