Thinking about getting a Fluval 3.0

Is the riser for ease of maintenance? To moderate light penetration? Some other reason(s)?

On this particular tank, it's to increase front to back spread. I didn't want to put 2 lights on this tank (40 Breeder).

What is the dimension on the diagonal?  Kind of a pain, but I've had some tanks where I get the light for what dimension and then run it that way.  It's interesting that you're running into issues with the light, it looks like everything I've seen should state that the spread is "wide enough", but obviously that's different than some users' experiences.

Lid on that tank looks awesome.  Just gonna point that out.

That's a Seachem Tidal 55 that I used to run Purigen in. I no longer use or recommend them. That said, they have lowered their price, probably because of low sails do to it's many problems.

 Very likely.

About 41 inches.

I've also sold all of my 3.0's. I no longer use or recommend them. They are way over priced.

I've also ditched the tops and run open top on all my tanks now.

Here's the 40 today.
