Gideyon
I have a piece of IAL baffling the output of my HOB. I've done it this way for a while. But the latest leaf I just now noticed a white substance on it, and also a different type of film on the water. The white part is above water. Anyone know what this is? Nirvanaquatics
Looks like mold. Is there any reason you don’t have it fully submerged?
Gideyon
Water level dropped. It's at the height of the HOB output. If it's mold, I'll take it out. I guess a water change is in the works if that's what the film is on the water. I did it this way before with no issue. The only difference is this morning I covered the fish tank with plastic to keep any household cleaning sprays from floating in there. I don't recall seeing this last night. Could it form that quickly?
NanoNano
White mold *can* form very quickly. I have some snails that remain partially above water for 8-12 hours at a time and those guys/gals can grow what looks like a Santa's beard on their shells in that short a time period. Gideyon
Is it bad for the fish (betta) inside? Because it was on the snail, just curious how you dealt with it.
