Feeding frezny

received in the mail the ziss brine shrimp hatchery from the co-op, and their brine shrimp eggs at about 5pm yesterday. i just fed my tanks live baby brine shrimp, and they went nuts for them. quite happy with this set up. probably 15 years ago i had tried one of the sanfransisco bay dealies that came with packets of shrimp eggs, and salt, and nothing ever hatched from that. this time i figured go all in, get the good stuff, and guess what, it works! not exactly what id consider an inexpensive set up, but the fact it works makes it a huge bargain compared to the last time i tried bbs.

I'm trying the DIY bottle set up, my issue right now is heating it to the temp of 80 degrees. My fish room is in the basement and it stays cool in the basement.....

i did mine in my laundry room in the basement, no heat.  sits about 73/74 in that room.  i was figuring they would take longer to hatch being on the cooler side, but was pleasantly surprised. i used no heat source, other than what minute amount the air pump put in through the air line.

You said you used the sanfrisco bay brine shrimp, great! I too have been looking to hatch brine shrimp and am wondering how small the sanfranciso brine shrimp packages are. (I would get the coop eggs, but I live in Canada)

From the picture on amazon they appear to be quite small. How long did these eggs last you, or how big was the packaging actually?

well then, maybe I should not worry to much about the heat even though I bought a heat lamp the other day......🤣

i figured the worst that can happen is i have a failed hatch or it takes extra long. if it dont work, then find a warmer spot or add some form of heat.

I think you miss read his post but to give you an answer the bottle is small and you might get 4 tea spoons of bbs out of it...

i used the sanfran ones once many years ago, and never got anything to hatch from them. could have been a number of reasons why they didnt work for me, from something i did, or they sat on the stores shelves forever, idk. the eggs i used this time came in a green can.
