So I got this bulb from the coop yesterday and since then it has grown this white fuzz on it. Am I doing something wrong?

Nothing wrong, You can take it out and rinse it and scrub a bit with your hands. Since they are stored in peat, sometimes spores get onto it, nothing harmful to your aquarium.

Dealing with the same thing now, had mine about two weeks only growth I've seen is the white fuzz. Guess I will try rinsing it off and hope for the best!

As long as the bulb stays sunken and not floating or mushy, give it time.  You can gently rub the slime off like @Corysaid.

I took out the bulb yesterday to rinse it a bit and did discover a small spot where it is mushy but I'd say 95% of it is solid.

I'll give another week or two and see.

Thanks!
