Nothing wrong, You can take it out and rinse it and scrub a bit with your hands. Since they are stored in peat, sometimes spores get onto it, nothing harmful to your aquarium.

As long as the bulb stays sunken and not floating or mushy, give it time.  You can gently rub the slime off like @Corysaid.

I took out the bulb yesterday to rinse it a bit and did discover a small spot where it is mushy but I'd say 95% of it is solid.

I'll give another week or two and see.
