Quarantine tank

Opinions on whether to put any stock in a quarantine tank to keep the nitrogen cycle going until I need to actually quarantine a new fish? Its a 10 gallon aquarium.

I personally don't keep anything specific in a quarantine tank. I just let mulm hang out from the last batch of fish.

In addition to mulm, I use pond snails.

I agree with Cory, I just leave the mulm in and i put some type of food in it every other day or so so the benificial bacteria has something to eat,so the bacteria count doesent die off and cant support the fish i put into them.

My quarantine tank currently has a fish that’s in time out. He likes to bully some of the others.

Seems what @Cory does (letting the tank hang out) is what my local fish store does. I often see empty tanks with the sponge filters running for quite some time. As long as you keep the filter running and they're getting oxygen you should be good for a long time.

I keep the sponge filter & heater running and throw a little food in for the bb when I remember.
