New 20 gallon stocking

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am about to set up my first real tank. It is a 20 gallon long and is heavily planted with lots of hiding spots. I have cycled the tank for about 2 months and all the levels are good! I had a couple ideas for stocking and was hoping people could give me some advice.
Here’s what I’m thinking:
-2 honey gouramis
-6 male guppies
-6 Pygmy Cory cats (if I can find them)
-Plus some inverts like snails and shrimp at some point
Would this work or would it be to much? Also is there any way I could get panda corys instead? I know they are bigger but was just wondering if it was possible.
Thank you so much!

You left out some important information...

Planted?  Heavily Planted?

if it’s heavily planted and fully established, I don’t think you are overstocking.

if it’s not heavily planted, and as long as you are committed to water changes I think you are ok too.

Ok, so reading all of this (correct me if I’m wrong) I am now thinking this:
-4 male guppies
-2 honey gouramis
-6-8 panda cories
Would that be ok? I will do more research on keeping pairs of gouramis, but what should I put in first? I was thinking guppies, then gourami, and pandas.
I have a cascade 80 filter (120 volts).

My honey Gouramis are male and female and the male can be a little of a turd when he wants to breed and the female is out of his league.
