Driftwood: What kind is this?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I am hoping to eventually buy a Waterbox Clear Pro. On their home description of the tank the company shows a picture of their tank with a large piece of driftwood. This is actually the #1 kind of driftwood I would buy for that tank. Does anyone know what kind of wood this is? Also, What are some types of driftwood you recommend? Thanks!

I have a nice piece of Spiderwood in my tank, which I have had issues with due to tannins, but I don't knock it.  I've also heard mopani is nice as it doesn't float, but I don't have any of that at this point. To be honest, I don't know the differences between the kinds, I just go by how they look.

In Maryland, US, I am blessed to have a local LFS, Tom's Tropicals, that has an AMAZING selection of driftwoods.  My biggest problem was when I went to shop for the wood, I spent hours trying to decide on the perfect piece, and every time I go in there I see other pieces I wish I had picked up.
