Tyler LaZerte
I have a request/question. I am looking at some ideas on how to set up my hardscape for my new tank. I have these three bahai stones, this piece of Manzanita wood, and some seiryu shavings for detail. Would anyone who is artistic be able to put together 2 or 3 ideas for how I can put it together?
Tyler LaZerte
I don't quite know why the images are upside down lol
FrozenFins
Heres an aquarium that I scaped for you in Photoshop. It includes the very wood and rocks you wanted to use Hygrophillia in the front, Amazon swords in the center back, Dwarf Sagiteria behind the rocks, Java Fern glued to the back of the wood, and the Buce glued/ tied to the wood as well. As well as a nutrient riched black substrate. 6
Tyler LaZerte
Holy crap, @James Black! That looks sweet! I will probably have some corkscrew val and/or hygrophila corymbosa in the back, a few epiphytes, and some crypts. That looks like an awesome image! Thank you for doing that!
MAC
I had a minute so I quickly played with this in my rudimentary meme editor. I put some val in the back corners, sorta semi circled the rock with pearlweed in the center, the driftwood off to a side moving towards center and scattered some crypts. Fun exercise! Good luck with your new tank!

Patrick_G
Haha great responses! I can’t design a layout but I really like this tank that @Irenefeatures on her YouTube.
Tyler LaZerte
@Patrick_G That is nice! I may be wrong, but is this her "Shy Guy" tank?
Tyler LaZerte
@James Black I forgot to mention that the wood piece actually spans the whole length of the aquarium. The aquarium is 24 inches long and so its the wood piece 🙂

CorydorasEthan
Here's a sketch. The design is set for a 20 gallon long aquarium. I started before I saw the dimensions and the size of the wood, so sorry about the size inaccuracies. Hopefully it helps a little anyways! Plants from left to right: Fanwort (Cabomba caroliniana), vallisneria (Vallisneria americana), Java fern (Microsorum pteropus), Amazon sword (), Anubias barteri, dwarf aquarium lily (Nymphaea stellata), and Crytocoryne wendtii in the foreground across the whole tank. 3
Tyler LaZerte
@CorydorasEthan Yo....that drawing is SICK!!! You are so talented! I can't even draw the rectangle for the tank 🤣 thank you so much! Could I get a hold of you somehow to do a drawing with some plants I want to put in?

I like to draw for fun, but I am no professional! I would certainly be up for drawing your scape if need be! Tyler LaZerte
@CorydorasEthan I would LOVE that! So the aquarium is 24 inches long and 12 inches tall. The wood piece is 24 inches long and goes about 1 inch below the top of the tank. There's are 3 big bahai stones and I have some seiryu stone rubble for detail. I want to put alder cones on the bottom for some added tannins. Some plants I want are crypts (your choice!), some Hygrofila corymbosa (I think that's what it is called), some mosses on the wood, and a few epiphytes. Feel free to add some plants ideas that you like as well! I am still looking for some planting ideas.

Irene
@Tyler LaZerte @Patrick_G That was my "Epiphytes Only" scape from before the "Shy Guys" tank, but good guess. 🙂 Edited April 29, 2021 by Irene 1
