CorydorasEthan
Can anyone ID these otos? I narrowed it down to the following species, but I can't be sure of exactly which one: Otocinclus vittatus Otocinclus vestitus Otocinclus macrospilus Macrotocinclus affinis I got them around a month ago, and they are still the same size, which is about the size as a pygmy cory. DSH OUTDOORS
I think you can rule out Otocinclus macrospilus and Macrotocinclus affinis. With no black band around the base Macrospilis is out and they are to dark to be affinis. http://www.scotcat.com/loricariidae/otocinclus_macrospilus4.htm http://www.scotcat.com/factsheets/otocinclus_affinis.htm This doesn't identify but hopefully narrows down your list.
Tyler LaZerte
@CorydorasEthan About 98% sure this is Otocinclus vittatus 😁
anewbie
I'm not 100% sure - i was looking at these pictures: https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=107 - The black blob at the tail seems a tiny bit different than your - what i can't tell is if it is individual difference or species difference. However, they have some good close up 'iding' pictures on planetcatfish which are not readily visible in your picture but you could check of the other id markers line up. The problem is that some of the species of otto are quite similar. --- Btw on planetcatfish.com if you type in otocinclus it will show you 24+ species of otto 😉 Edited April 27, 2021 by anewbie
