Tim513
Hi all, I tried looking for the answer in the forum, but I didn't see it. My platy had its first surviving fry about 2 weeks ago which made me so excited. Fortunately, I was able to get the little guy into my tank set for him before he was eaten. I was just curious how long he should be apart from the other tank mates on average? There was something I read that it could take up to 2 months, but it seemed inconclusive. Thank you for any helpful feedback! Tim

If you plant your tank very heavily with lots of plants -- especially floating plants that create escape places for fry -- you'll not need to separate them at all. Basically, once the fry is 30 days old, it's reasonably bulletproof to predation. Feed it up!
Tim513
Thank you! I do want to add more plants. I have a lot of java fern, a crypt, and an amazon sword. I'm looking to just some jungle vallisneria or pogostemon..... That should help them hide better, but I have to wait a little longer just yet. Thank you again for replying!
