Within the next month or so I want to start my first breeding tank! With me being a total NEWB to breeding fish I want to start off with something easy like Platys. Soon I want start doing egg laying fish like Apistogramma, Corycats, Killifish.

But with me planning this tank I want to see everyone elses tank to get some inspiration. I will be using a 10 gallon aquarium.

Here's my humpback limias. Not the most colorful little guys but the males have a neat shape. They're pretty amusing to watch spar and dance for the girls. They get a nice golden yellow hue to their tails and bellies once mature. They're not always so hidey, they just don't much like the camera.

Their faces are pretty cute too.

Above the 29 I keep a 40 breeder with blue wag platies. I like the blue but I'm thinking more and more that I want to add more colors and mix it up. Platies come in so many gorgeous colors I just want them all. This is an old pic, apparently I don't take pics of the 40 much (unless it's of my catfish, who's since moved out to the 75 but that's another story).

Love the scape!

What type of plant is that floating in the upper right of the bottom tank? Its not hornwort is it?

You've got to love Endlers! It's always satisfying to see a thriving group of huge adults and tiny babies alike feeding on fry food at the surface...

The tank also has some Corydoras, a Siamese flying fox, a lone Amano (he lost his partner just recently) and some otos. Here's a couple full-tank shots:

Here is my other tank that I don't mention too often, as it's kind of embarrassing. I haven't gotten the chance to put many live plants in yet, and I have a pearl gourami on temporary hold in the tank (due to some aggression), so don't worry, he will be moving out to a better home soon! Oddly enough, I am still able to raise a surprising amount of babies, as the pearl isn't very fast at catching the fry!

Stunning Tanks @CorydorasEthan

Have you ever thought about putting a betta in the tank after the gourami goes some place else? Could be a neat feature fish. Could eat some of your fry though. I also don't see any corydoras in the last tank, are they hidding? Doesn't seem like you not to have at least one  species of corycats in each one of your tanks😆

Thanks! My little sibling did have a betta in their 5 gallon tank along with two snails, and we were going to put him in, but sadly, he got dropsy and died. Also, the 10 gallon and the 29 gallon are home to colonies of assassin snails which would be a danger to the nerite and mystery snail currently in the 5 gallon (I have tried selling the assassins off to my local store, but their populations keep coming back lol).

Haha I thought I would have cories in all my tanks too! I was going to keep Corydoras in the 10 gallon, but the tank is too heavily stocked right now! The original intention for the tank was to use it as a grow-out tank for cory fry, but with the booming guppy/endler population in the 29 gallon, we had to convert for them instead. Also, my peppered cory female has outright refused to spawn with the males in the tank, despite the fact that she is the fattest fish in the tank and looks like she's ready to burst with eggs! She is the only cory I have had who has previously spawned successfully, and without any cory fry, I unfortunately have no reason for a cory fry grow-out tank. I plan on getting cories for it soon though, once the gourami and the algae eater are gone (both love to nip cories) so I'll keep you updated!

here is an updated picture of my guppy tank. I had to treat it with furan-2 2 or 3 months ago  - i had purchased a tiny female betta from petco and it carried in some disease that killed all my female betta; and a couple of kuhli. I suspect a guppy or two died as did my female bn - but nothing seems to harm the swordtails. I mean i've had two tank wipe out in 4 years and nothing harms them.

Also in case you are wondering furan-2 will do a number on your plants. Despite what others might say and the instruction with the stuff states it will do a real number on your plants. The swords were find as was the apongetons and various anubias  but just about everything else got zapped - of course having multiple tanks one can transplant a bit from here and a bit from there. I figure in another 2 months the PSO will regrow in the back. Also in case you are wondering i only wanted 2 mystery snails. Sadly one of them decided i needed 50 more. It really annoys the pleco. I swear one day he took his tail and started batting them away from the zuc so he could get in there.

(in case you are wondering when i get out of this condo i will setup a qt tank and never again....)

I had this happen too. I lost a years worth of growth on a bolbitis, an incredibly slow grower for me. I was able to save a small bit of it, and luckily now I have enough to spread out across my tanks. If I ever have to dose a tank again I will be removing any plants I can just in case, and I've been making sure to spread the word.
