Nat
Here’s a couple of my favorite photos of my CPD’s and cherry shrimp taken with an inexpensive clip on lens with my iPhone. (thanks to @Irene for the clip on lens tip in one of her videos! ❤️)

Sliceofnature
Some of these photos are absolutely amazing. I decided to give it a shot tonight myself. I dont have anything of that quality and im not really sure these count as macro photos either; but here are a couple i took on my phone tonight. I am looking to get a macro lens attachment soon so i can get more detailed shots. In the process of reviewing the photos i took of my new hatchetfish i noticed that they have Ich! I hadnt noticed any symptoms yet so if i hadnt taken these close ups i still wouldnt know. i immediately dosed ich x so they should be recovered soon enough.

They always say the best camera is the one you have. Don't be intimidated by quality, it's just fun to learn and as you shoot more, the photos will just get better! 😄 I have many folders of blurry fish shots that I took with a camera when I first started, rarely getting anything sharp or in focus...so I'm very impressed with what you captured first time around! Glad that you jumped on board and looking forward to more photos from you. 🙂 3

Daniel
Of course, it is expensive, but I tested several clip on types and was unsatisfied. The Moment lens brought satisfaction. Biggest downside is also its biggest upside. You cannot use the lens without the Moment case. That is part of the reason the starter kit cost $110. But this is also why is works so well.
Sol
I second the moment lens! I actually don't have the macro, but use the 58mm telephoto to get closer to subjects while keeping well within the minimum focus distance of the phone camera. Here's a few comparisons, with the phone staying the same distance away for the subject, the only change is the addition of the lens. It's not fish pictures because fish move too quickly and it wouldn't be consistent 😂 My phone is a Google Pixel 3. Left: No lens // Right: 58mm moment telephoto With the telephoto, there is also more lens compression and the background looks a little bit blurrier 😉 Edited January 23, 2021 by Sol changed photo sizes
Alexa
@James Black I bought a Moment macro lens kit per recommendation from @Daniel All of the photos I’ve posted in this thread are from that lens.

Daniel
It is always wonderful to have another forum member say they like your aquarium or photo. I know I always appreciate that. But, there are also the reaction buttons that can serve the same function, for example: Clicking the reaction button helps @Hobbit build reputation and also keeps the thread slightly more compact. Otherwise there would have been six separate replies of likes to just this one photo in a thread that has hundreds and hundreds of photos. Meaningful replies are a keystone to good threads.
