Clown Pleco Fanning?

I have 2 Clown Pleco's but I have absolutely no idea regarding their sex. I have one who has recently started fanning, all the time. It doesn't have a "Cave" But they each stay on opposite sides of the tank and have created their own little space. I have ordered a Cave for them but Idk. Is this a mating thing? Or is it just content?

My bristlenose male usely fans the entrance to his cave when the female has laid eggs  you could have a pair and females laid eggs

Male plecos will demonstrate their egg fanning technique to try and impress the girl plecos. Your fanning pleco is almost certainly a male because of that behavior. If a girl pleco is suitably impressed by a male's egg fanning technique, she'll consent to lay her eggs for the male to fan them.  Then she'll wander off to go shop, grab a bite of food, maybe take in a movie or something, while the male is trapped in the cave for days/weeks/months looking after the eggs and fry.
