jillybeans01
New to the hobby and trying to figure out what is wrong with my el niño fern. Some of the older leaves are very pale (new growth is all really green) and I’m noticing some dark spots/holes on the older leaves as well. Any suggestions are appreciated! ShrimpyPirate
Could be. Do you have aqua-soil / root tabs / fertilizers under the Flourite subrate? The Flourite itself won't provide any nutrients to the plants. If the new growth is green the old leaves may have used up their life and are on the way out. I would remove them so they don't cause ammonia spikes. Edited April 14, 2021 by ShrimpyPirate
jillybeans01
I added root tabs about a week ago so hopefully that will help.
kammaroon
El niño ferns are epiphytes, like Java fern. Dose with liquid fert, like Easy Green, and make sure you don't bury the rhizome.
