Brine Shrimp Aquarium

I am considering setting up a small brine shrimp aquarium. I own and like the Ziss kit from the Co-Op, but I just don’t keep enough fish at this time. In my marine days, I accidentally bred some sort of shrimp or copepods in a canister filter.

I would be interested in doing some sort of persistent colony, if possible. Has anyone tried something like this?

Tried and failed, but I think it was all about lacking the experience with balancing out a marine tank. If you set up a small tank (say . . . a 10 gal) with the proportions of salt to water, and hatch out shrimp and put it there . . . I think you'd just need to have some kind of filtration, and feed them. I tried feeding spirulina . . . but the shrimp died, and it REEKED up the house . . .

This guy seems to find success:
