Miller's Journal

Full degassed sample measured 7.0. I also checked KH and it was 1dKH. It seems Eco Complete is not so inert. I did some research and people have confirmed this problem. Looks like it will be some weeks before it is depleted and truly 0.

Rechecked pH this morning and it was 6.0, if I get to 5.9, I'll be happy.

I'm including a video of what it looks like when you start to have too much CO2 in the tank.

Discovered a massive mistake, dumb mistake too. I was calculating the wrong water volume so my fertilizers were way overboard. Hopefully, with the corrected numbers, things will go more smoothly.

I'm done with Fluval lights. Way over priced and not RGB. Novice mistake on my part, so I ordered a new light for the 75 gallon and will be selling the 3.0's.

New light arrives tomorrow and these will be the last pictures with these lights.

Okay, the new light and new reduced nutrients had a temporary negative effect on the tank. The Ammonia and Pantanal really got upset.

Today is the first day I'm seeing some good changes.

I'm removing a majority of the Pearl Weed in the 40 and I think I will use S. Repens in it's place. I didn't want to remove it all at once, seems like when I do that, things go off track. 40 also got a big hair cut.

Edit: Forgot to mention, whatever was raising KH in the 75 has been depleted. The 75 and the 40 are officially at 0dKH. That's a negative for Eco Complete.

Small rearrangement, and the struggle is real.

By weeks end, the GDA has built up. I will chalk that up to a still balancing substrate. I bumped N and K up each 5ppm per week.

Removed the Ammonia and will be focusing on how to grow this Pantanal well. I'm seeing why people say it's so temperamental! Just a phone shot of the tank this morning.596345734_PXL_20210825_1619093052.jpg.086fd726a42ea996511b4534cd577c38.jpg

I had a chance to receive feedback from several people I follow on another forum, they are my inspirations, and I 100% listen to their advice. So, I have a couple of changes coming up. 1-I've ordered DTPA Fe 11% and 2-I'm reducing Micro dosing and splitting up how I dose. I have been dosing .63 ppm Fe (proxy) from CSM+B, today I lowered the weekly dose to .5ppm Fe (proxy). Once I receive the new DTPA Fe (11%), my new dose will look more like .4ppm Fe from EDTA CSM+B and .2ppm Fe DTPA.

What this will achieve is lower Micro's Like Cu and B (as well as others) and be able to maintain a higher Fe PPM as well as have the 2 chelates in the tank. Apparently, DTPA will allow for more Fe to be available throughout the day.

I will certainly be more active, here, when I begin the change. So for now, it's just a lower dose of CSM+B this week.

The tank looked really clear this morning, so here are a couple of shots.
