Hello, I’m sorry if this was already discussed but I searched and couldn’t find anything related online or on here. I’m doing a fish in cycle and using stability and I’m on the 3rd day. Do I also dose with Prime? No signs of distress and this is a heavily planted 29 gallon. Started cycling 12 days ago with no fish but got and no nitrites yet other then .25 the first day after adding Stability. Used fritz zone before and filter sponge water from the local store and nothings happened. Since adding stability the ammonia has gone from 2 to 1 then back to 1.5 Water Ammonia - 1.5 Nitrites - 0 Nitrates - 5-10 pH - 6.6 GH - 6-7 KH - 2 fish Cardinals - 19 Betta - 1 -
What is with this PH? My Ammonia is 0, Nitrite is 0, and Nitrate is 20. The PH was 7 on 5/16 and this morning (5/20) it is between 7.2-7.6; I am calling it 7.4. I am using EZ Green, Dustin's Iron (until it's gone}, and have also been using Seachem's Flourish, Potassium, and Phosphorus as recommended. Yesterday, I added Nitrogen and Trace. I have had issues with my PH for months. I removed the sand and the slate (thought there might be some other mineral in the slate) and hoping that would make a difference; it had gone up to 7.6 with those things in the tank. The PH seemed to be more stable after removing them. Could these nutrients be raising it again? Is it because I didn't do a water change last week (I was busy and hoped to make it two weeks). My tank has been up since September, somewhat heavily planted (lots of plants with medium growth}, dirt bottom and capped with Flourite. Rock and wood. No fish. Yet. I want fish, but wanted to stabilize the PH and establish plants first. City water. I am so frustrated. Please help? -
Hi I am currently in a fishless cycle in a planted tank and have been for approximately 3 weeks adding 2-4ppm ammonia this is now being reduced to 0ppm within 12/16 hours. The Nitrites have stayed steady at .25ppm all the time and not increased or decreased. The Nitrates are around 5-10 ppm closer to 5. I have also added stability on a regular basis. What is happening ?? Can I do a partial water change to dilute the Nitrites and then safely add fish and stability at the recommended dose and time period along with Prime. Your advice is very much appreciated.
