  1. Hello, I'm working on my aquarium photography and I'm looking for recommendations for a camera phone lens that can shoot the middle and back of tank for an Android phone. I have a 75gallon tank and the depth of the tank is 18" from the front glass to the back. I recently bought a Macro Lens from Amazon that has a shooting distance of 1.18-3.54 inches which works great for photos near the glass but obviously does me no good past that 4" mark. If anyone has any recommendations (please provide link) I'd appreciate it.
  2. Anyone have recommendations to optimize the Nano sponge filter? I've tried the Ziss air stone as well as a normal air stone to get bubbles to stop escaping from the sides with no luck. I haven't tried to put a piece of tube down around the air stone, mostly because the uplift tube on the nano doesn't fit down there. The uplift tube is also not wide enough to even fit the ziss inside of. I've also tried lowering the air, really not running that high as is, and that doesn't seem to help either. Honestly the only way I've found to stop this is by running no air stone at all, but that pretty loud.
  3. Anyone have the Fluval plant 3.0 light? I am looking for information about how good it really is. Setting up a 75, no CO2 would this be a good light for this tank? Due to the divided rim, I am considering getting a 48” since 2 24” cost more. TIA!
  4. Putting together an Aquarium Co-op order and realized I have an empty Easy Planter. What is the best plant I should try to fill it with? I am leaning against a stem plant, but worry about something like a sword plant outgrowing the pot and getting it nutrients. Do you think that is a reasonable worry? My options for this tank: Java fern Dwarf sag Dwarf chain sword Anubias coffeefolia Cryptocoryne Wendtii Green Cryptocoryne Tropica Has anyone had bad luck with any of these in their Easy Planter? Which ones do you think will work best? Any I should avoid? (I have multiple places in the tank I could put it, so foreground/background, etc. is not really a concern at this point.) Thanks.
  5. I was recently watching the "TEENY TINY ideas for your Nano Aquarium" video with Cory and Dean, and it got me excited to try a 3 gallon project. We have extremely limited space in our tiny apartment, but I have a space approx. 11.8 x 15.7 on a table that supports up to 44lbs. I had been looking at this Tetra LED Cube Shapped 3 gallon, but the mixed reviews have me a little trigger shy on this one. Does anyone have any recommendations on alternatives or experience with this product? Also I can't seem to locate that 3 gallon in the aforementioned video (the one that houses Clifford) anywhere. Is it no longer available? Thanks!
  6. Hello fellow tank lovers! I have staghorn algae growing on a lot of plants right now. I am not experienced with this type of algae, but I did read where basically nothing will eat it. Maybe except a SAE, but I do not have the proper set up for an SAE. Should this algae stay or go? It's ugly as sin. And I don't think my plant leaves are loving it. How do I kill it? I have been spot treating with Excel, but it's almost like just as fast as it starts turning red and dying off in one small area, more grows elsewhere. Parameters are good, API master test kit confirmed. Two different tanks, a 9 gallon flex with a betta, a snail, and bamboo shrimp. And a 13.5 gallon Evo with a betta, small colony of neo's, and 3 ember tetras. Each tank gets fed 1 time a day, I spot clean uneaten food in the evening (fish are fed in the morning). Maybe it's the lights? They are on from 9AM to 9PM. The only thing I use for plants is Flourish Tabs in the substrate. Both tanks are moderately planted with some cholla wood and natural rocks. Both tanks use Fluval lights. Pre-Set to the 'Planted' parameters. I do not use CO2. Any ideas? As in *why* the staghorn would be growing so quickly and how to kill it (if it's bad and needs to die)
  7. Hey everyone - new to the forum. I’ve been a fan of Cory and Aquarium Co-Op for just about 2 years now. I currently have a 93 cube tank with a sump for my goldfish, but I plan to move them to a 180. I love the idea of simplicity that Cory discusses with HOBs and sponge filters. What are your thoughts for the 180? I’ll start with 8 fist-sized goldfish and probably go to 12-15. Can I pull of an aquaclear 110 with 2 sponge filters? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
  8. Hello everyone, I plan on getting a 100 gallon pond from Tractor Supply for my red eared slider to put outside. Any filter recommendations? I’ve never done an outside pond, so I am totally unsure about what to get. I would normally do a sponge filter, but given that it’s a red eared slider... they get chompy.
  9. I need help finding a place to buy micro worms from. I need them to breed my Pygmy Cories. Any input is appreciated!
  10. Hello All, I’m swapping some fish around my tanks and I’m looking for some mid/top level fish for my 29 gal. They will need to live with my Kuhli loaches and Apisto (he’s been in there about 4 years- they need to get along with him). I have very very hard water. temp 79/80 usually. PH- 6.8-7.2 Not looking for guppies or endlers (I have another display tank filled with them). I wanted cardinal tetras originally, I’ve purchased groups twice now and had them all die in quarantine on the 1st or 2nd day. So I’ve basically given up on them. Does anyone have tips on keeping cardinals in hard warmer water? thanks in advance! Just looking for inspiration/information.
  11. I found the perfect size aquarium to fit on a half-wall in my home office, HCA-6G (6.5 GAL) Rimless Low-Iron Aquarium 6.7" x 23.6" x 9.5". I've been trying to get this order from Aqua Lab Aquaria shipped for over 2 months now. I'm about to dispute the charge for a second time and file a report with the FTC. I understand that there was a shortage because the demand went crazy during lockdown, but I was told weeks ago one was set aside pending the charge back being cancelled. Which it was and I sent them the documents from my bank then never heard back. They offered me a gift card which is worthless because I'll never shop there again. I'm just blown away by how terrible their customer service has been. Does anyone have a recommendation where I can get a similar tank from a reputable seller? Cory & Co. spoiled me for customer service.
  12. Hello everyone! I have considered buying a UV sterilizer for a few months now and was wondering how you liked yours. I've learned it keeps the water clear and can kill some parasites. I don't want to spend $90+ unless it would benefit the aquarium. Today I saw for the first time a inline Fluval sterilizer that is compatible with my 407. How did you like your UV? Does anyone have the Fluval sterilizer? Thanks in advance!
  13. Hi All! I just got a nasty case of anubias rot that took out half of my plant stock in my 5g so I'm shopping for Bucephalandras to replace them. Looking on Buce Plant, they have a ton of different kinds and it's kind of overwhelming. I would love to see photos of yours and get recommendations to help me decide what to buy. I'm open to all kinds in all shapes, colors and sizes. My tank parameters are stable pH at 7.4, nitrates at ~10, temp 76 degrees, low light, low tech. Dosing one pump Easy Green once a week. Thank you!
  14. Just wanting some input on this, as I had trouble finding contents posted by the Co-Op specifically on this equipment type. Not sure if the Ziss Bubble Filter counts, but I was thinking something more similar to this (just as a reference): https://fluvalaquatics.com/us/u-series/ https://www.amazon.com/Sicce-SIC113-Filtration/dp/B007GCFYW4 Are they not talked much about because many of them have quality defects or user-friendly issues? Or is it in the Co-Op's opinion that sponge/HOB filters simply perform better? I like my HOB because it takes little tank space, but it sometimes makes a lot of noise by vibrating against the glass or creating a waterfall when water level drops. That's how I became curious on internal power filters, but I don't want to waste money...
  15. So I almost have everything together for my 20 gallon. I'm looking for some suggestions though. I've used Eco Complete and it's good. I'm thinking about trying something different though. What does everyone like the best? I don't want dirt but I'm interested in capping something like more Eco or Flourite with sand maybe? I'm using a Finnex Stingray 24 inch. (No co2. Yet.) I'll be moving some vallisneria into this tank. But I want some more colors and shapes. I like the look of pogostemon stellaris. Will this grow ok in my setup? Some websites seem to recommend more medium light for it. What about some reddish plants? It's my first time using a Finnex so I'm just not sure what will do well yet. Maybe a dwarf aquarium lily? I'm skeptical about adding something like rotala or scarlet temple. Hit me with all your thoughts and suggestions!
