  1. So idk much about lighting, but I got my 55gl running 2 25$ shop lights, (50w 6k lumen, color 5k, each) water Is 79°, A 0, ni 0, na 0, gh 300+ kh 40-0 pH 7.8-8.2, I'm having the issue of the water being to clean, like no amount I feed will shift the water and my plants (water lettuce and duckweed) are going the cycle of massive growth in couple days then massive die off just as fast, blasting my water to, A 1, ni 4, na 0, then swinging it back to 0,0,0 in a 6-8 day cycle, is there any way to stabilize this cycle, cuz I'm feeding 4 tbl spoons of repashy community Plus twice daily and it's just barley keeping it stable but it keeps going out of whack, anyone know what to do or any ideas, no easy green but I am using easy carbon 6 pump per day
  2. I purchased this plant as a bulb a few months back. It has since taken over the 20 long aquarium. I had no idea the bulb would grow into this huge plant! Some of the leaves are larger than the fish. look as those long stems of leaves that reach to the top of the tank. Wow! I love this plant so much I purchased two more bulbs for the other two aquariums. This aquarium replaced the ten gallon I earlier started a breeding program in but upgraded to this size when petco had its 1$ per gallon sale. I just transferred everything over to this tank. Its supposed to have plantinum angels in it but they arrived so sick they perished within 6 hrs of delivery. Yea those are Neon lyretail balloon Mollies you see in the pictures. Please forgive me. I didn’t find out until recently thaT they are not pc when purchased. Now I am embarrassed 😳. But I love them 😍 🤷‍♂️ So I don’t know what to say. Except I promise not to do it again? Yea. That’s it.
  3. Hi guys. I'm a big fan of the co-op from Brazil and would like some help. I'm having problems with my plants growth, and i don't have easy options for fertilization or light. My plants seem stagnant, they don't die, but they aren't thriving. I don't have access to a fluval 3.0 or something like that, they are not sold here. The plant specific lights are really expensive and i can't afford them. So, this is my ~20g planted tank, picture was taken October 28: At the time of these pictures the tank was inhabitated, but now I added 5 albino corydoras (pics from today): I have tried to add more hardness to my water with calcium and magnesium carbonate but that didn't help with plant growth (that's the white dust all over everything). I use a popular substrate from a brazilian company by recommendation of other fish-keepers that have had success with it, which has these specifications: Formula: TiO................................ 0,05% K.....................................0,24% Ca................................. 1,05% Mg............................... ..0,84% Fe................................. .0,27% Al................................. ..1,16% Si.................................. .6,35% N.................................. ..0,40% P................................... .0,07% S.................................. ..0,34% Na............................ ..0,0009% PPM: Mn....................................166, 9Zn....................................292,5 Cu......................................14,2 B........................................63,8 electric conductivity 1.600 (umnhos)CTC...................15,5(me/100g) humidity.............................10% My light is a 50w led reflector like this: These are my tests results from last week (i use SERA tests): PH= 7.5 GH= 3 drops KG= 2 drops nitrate= 10ppm Temp: ~80º F I don't have CO2. I have these fertilizers at hand, but they don't seem to do anything (even dosing 2 times the recommended amount.): Each dose adds the following: NPK: 6.0 PPM NO3 1.0 PPM PO4 3.8 PPM K 0.6 PPM Mg Micro: 0.07 PPM FE 0.01 PPM B 0.06 PPM MG 0.05 PPM MN 0.01 PPM ZN 0.01 PPM CU Potassium: 2.5 PPM K Iron: 0.4 PPM FE Any idea of what i'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance. Sorry about all the information.
  4. In hydroponics, I know they do flood and drain systems. I was curious if anyone has tried this with an aquarium. It would likely be a drain and flood system, since you would want it flooded more often than drained. You would also have to make sure your livestock (if any) and plants would be able to handle the time out of water. I would imagine no more than thirty minutes out in the air at a time. This is probably something most feasible with smaller tanks, pumping the water level down, and then having it drip back into the tank over 20 minutes or so, I'm curious how this would affect algae and general plant growth as it would be exposed to more CO2 in the air than underwater. Thoughts?
