  1. I have seen Cory's suggestion of painting the back of the tank black and using black tubing. But is it possible to paint the lift tubes on under gravel filters? Not sure if Krylon Fusion would be appropriate.
  2. I am planning on painting my Fish Room. I am wondering how it will affect my fish and Fish Tanks. I m worried about my Air Pumps pulling in Air with Paint Fumes and dispersing it in my Tank water. Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated. Thanks ,Mike
  3. So I'm making a fish room in my basement and I gott frame and insulate it and all that, so its gonna need painting and I was just wondering what a good color to paint the walls would be. I want the tanks to pop and I dont want too much light reflecting off the walls. I was gonna go with a flat finish, and the tanks were gonna have black background and be on black stands. Theres also a picture of the soon to be fishroom, which I've cleaned up some but still has more cleaning to do before starting construction. Anyways thanks for any advice you guys give!
  4. We're going to have part of our house professionally painted soon. What's the best preventative maintenance of protecting a tank, without moving it? Cover with a think plastic drop cloth? I do have a glass top on it.
  5. Re-establishing my older aquarium. A couple of decades ago, I stained the wood and sealed it with polyurethane. The exterior still looks great, but the interior ceiling has some water damage where the lamination bubbled up in places. I've cut out the bad, and I plan on painting the ceiling with white Rust-oleum to cover the damage - and for reflective purposes. I will then seal it again with polyurethane - while touching up the rest of the hood. My question is whether it would be safer to use oil-based or water-based paint and sealer? I tried a Google search, and there seems to be a lot of conflicting information on what types of paint to use around an aquarium.
  6. I'm thinking of using gloss black Krylon Fusion to paint the intake tubes of an Aquaclear 110 for my next tank build. Has anyone ever done that or something similar? How did the paint hold up, did it flake off, any effects on water/fish etc?
