  1. Alright coop folks im upgrading from a well established flex 15 to a flex 32.5 and I dont really have a way of having them both set up so I think I'm going to do a straight swap and treat it like a 50 percent change but transfer everything mechanical filtration c nodes gravel plants and all The part that worries me is my blue phantom pleco im not sure how he will handle the transfer especially since last time I tried to catch him he jumped straight out of the tank and about 4 feet across the room... Any advice. I know ideally it would be best to set up the 32 in advance and use part of my media to cycle it but its simply not possible
  2. So I see on a lot of the live streams people asking how to move fish tanks when moving. We usually get an answer for someone moving half an hour or so away. What do you do if you have to move across the country or more than a day drive away? With a couple bigger fish tanks...
  3. Hello! I am temporarily moving across the country for work and am breaking down my 75 gallon tanks for the time being. I will be bringing a 15 gallon cube with me to keep me sane. On the livestreams and videos Cory has talked about the importance of a seasoned tank for a healthy ecosystem. If I was diligent in monitoring tank parameters do you guys think I could successfully breed Multies shell dwellers soon after cycling the tank? If not, please suggest a species you think would fit this size tank and could raise the fry with the parents in same tank. Thanks everyone for your time and responses! PFA my Purple Mosiac female guppy 🙂
  4. hey everyone so we are renovating but for the renovation we are getting rid of the counter with my 10 gallon planted tank that is using built in vanity lighting so i want to know will there be issues with switching lights? planning to use these: https://www.amazon.com/Hygger-Spectrum-Extendable-Controller-Freshwater/dp/B07X9T9PV6/ref=asc_df_B07X9T9PV6/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385172485852&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=507080973190739354&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9026082&hvtargid=pla-891448470877&ref=&adgrpid=80205419882&th=1 i'm switching out my sand for eco complete by caribsea with cap of of peace river grave, and moon light sand they are all on liveaquaria if you want to check them out what should i know about switching substrates plant wise? i've never had to use root tabs because the tank is 2 yrs old and the sand has never been cleaned except for the top best ways to eliminate/reduce fish stress? currently have 4 neon tetras and 3 pygmy cories i plan to up the school once the tank has been set up in the new place for awhile i'm changing out the sponge filters for aquarium co op one because i'm tired of using suction cups will be running the new filter in tank prior moving it sorry if this was confusing 🙂
  5. I want to upgrade my 2nd 2.5 gallon (as I’m currently in the process of upgrading the 1st) to double the size with a 5 gallon. My question is, can I get away without cycling the new tank if I take everything (substrate, decor, equipment, water) and put into new tank? Would it not be the near equivalent of doing a 50% water change? Second question: if I want to change filter to a sponge filter instead of the stupid cartridge one after moving to new tank, can I just hook up the sponge and leave the old cartridge in for a bit or safe to remove completely and replace?
  6. So I did this today. Lucked out and I was not crushed by the tank and the tank stayed in one piece.
