Plan on batt insulation in my small fish room, 16 inch on center. Additionally I plan on finishing the inside with 1/2-1 inch foam insulation board for additional r value. Should I tape seams? Any need for poly layer at any point? Will I need to ventilate if every tank has a tight fitted poly lid or will a dehumidifier be sufficient. my concern with putting in a exhaust fan is wouldn’t it essentially tank my efficiency of keeping it heated or cool? Small room only a couple hundred gallons. I’m putting a lot of fore thought but this is one concept I’m struggling to understand. The space is a framed in room in a detached shop that itself is drafty.

Living in a city with no Aquarium Store and the nearest one is 36 miles (30 minutes) away and there is ones within a 3 hour drive of me. Going the distance with a USB Powered Air Pump has been on my mind because of the distance I have to travel to go to an aquarium shop. When should you use a USB powered air pump and when should you not use a USB powered Air pump? is it smart to use a USB powered air pump in transportation of fish from aquarium stores to home quarantine tank? What would your max distance be to use a USB air pump? These are all questions that could help a Beginner in the hobby.

Here in north TX we just had a temperature swing from 97 to 50 in about three days, and these kinds of swings are typical for the area. admittedly, I forgot this before switching our tank from room temp to tropical stock, and now I'm concerned about keeping the temperature stable throughout the winter months. my husband and I live in an apartment, so improving the insulation for the room the tank is in isn't possible, so what other ways can you insulate an aquarium? tips for power outage or travel would be helpful too.
