  1. I only have the hydrogen peroxide right now is that okay to place in tank with Angel Fish eggs?
  2. I read a number of blogs advising against boiling rocks to "sterilize" them because of risk of air pockets exploding the rocks under heat and pressure. I also read that bleach soaks are pretty iffy, I guess some having success others not. However, I still want to make sure no parasites or other unwanted organic live material finds its way into a freshwater aquarium. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts or experience with using hydrogen peroxide soak to clean rocks collected from an ocean shore? Would just soaking the rocks in straight 3% hydrogen peroxide be adequate?
  3. Hey all, just wanted to give a PSA I guess. Or get any input on my situation I’ve been having some algae problems (hair and bba) in my new display tank. When I was doing my water change today I figured why not use some hydrogen peroxide and get some of it killed off. So I lowered the water level as low as the fish were comfortable with and went to work spraying it onto where the algae has been growing. Fast forward about 45 minutes later, fish are gasping at the top and a Cory is swimming sporadically. I watched them for a little bit and saw no change so I hurried and did a 50% water change and I’ve left the lights on to speed up the breakdown process. So far I’ve lost 5 corys of my breeding colony and 1 discus. I expect I’ll have more losses when I wake up in the morning. Really hoping I don’t lose my expensive discus pair but we’ll see. Anyways just a heads up, it’s not hard to overdose it when you have your water level very low in a large tank. I’m sure everyone would be fine with the amount I added if the tank was full but with it being lower I assumed I’ve damaged the gills of the fish. I’ve treated dozens of tanks before and not had an issue but I definitely will just remove any scape with algae in the future before treating.
  4. I use it during water changes to spray down the algae on glass before wiping it down so any algae is dead if it makes it into the water column. How many of you use hydrogen peroxide in your tank?
  5. Is hydrogen peroxide effective at killing staghorn if i pull out my anubias and spray it on and let it soak?
  6. I've used hydrogen peroxide to fight off black beard algae in the past. It's been so long now that I don't really remember what the dosages are or anything. I have to work all day today and tomorrow so I was hoping to hear from a collective of fish keepers on this subject. It's starting to cover my crinum and I want to nip it before it gets worse. How do you prevent bba in your own tank? What do you do when an outbreak does occur? I plan on researching the proper dosing recommendations at some point. But I would love to hear other options and experiences.
  7. Want to dose with easy carbon what’s the best way to do it ? Spot treatment? Or dose entire tank ?
  8. I have quite a bit of extra Java moss and other plant trimmings I don't want to throw away. If a local store or hobbyist wanted to buy some is there a dip I should do to get rid of any possible snails or algae. I wouldn't want anyone upset if something were accidentally introduced....
