  1. So I think my Cory’s are cross breeding. Do to bad luck my 3 groups of Cory have dwindled down to 3 singles. An albino, emerald and bronze. Today I found what I think are eggs in several places in the tank, originally I thought maybe my hillstreams layed them but after searching fish eggs I’m thinking it was the Cory’s. Iv searched around a little on google and most people have the same reaction that honestly I don’t find helpful. So I’m going to ask the question and I just want a straight logical answers without the usual “don’t do it” response please. THIS IS NOT A TROLL QUESTION PLEASE DONT TREAT IT LIKE ONE. Why is it bad to let Cory’s crossbreed? Is it dangerous? Will they kill everything in the tank? Or is it just some kind of interracial hatred issue being projected onto fish for whatever reason? Please just give me a straight answer and not a simple “it’s bad and gross, don’t do it” reaction.
  2. Firstly, I do not have a picture, sorry. I was at my LFS a few days ago when a tank with very large CPDs. I mean far larger than any CPD I've ever seen. They were 2" and chubby, very mature looking fish. When I inquired why they were so large I was told they are a hybrid between "Emerald Rasboras and CPD". Due to the size of these fish I thought the clerk meant Emerald Eye Rasboras, but now I think they were talking about Emerald Dwarf Rasbora. Can two tiny species produce such a big size difference in offspring? I know it happens in other animals but was still very surprised and puzzled. Is this done on purpose?
  3. Hello everyone, I have a 75 gallon with 12 Chilatherina Alleni Wapoga in it. I also have 12 Rhadinocentrus Ornatus Searys Creek in a 40 gallon. I want to consolidate a bit so if I were to toss the Rhad’s in the 75, is there the potential for hybridization? My gut tells me no, however I want to be absolutely certain before doing so. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly
  4. Hello everyone, I am in the midst of planning my next aquarium. I already have 12 Chilatherina Alleni ‘Wapoga’ grow outs in a 40 breeder. I also have 11 Rhadinocentrus Ornatus ‘Searys Creek’ grow outs in a separate 40. I’m planning on purchasing a 75 within 30-60 days for the Alleni. Question is, can I mix in the Rhad’s or is there a hybridization risk? Thank you kindly, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Manny
  5. Hi guys so I figured out the I have 3 super red agasizis (sorry if I miss spelled it) and one male double red cacatoid (again sorry for the misspelling) I’m worried they will hybridize.is that a thing??? thanks guys
  6. Curious on thoughts on Hybrid Cory fry.. I know it’s a pretty touchy subject and vast majority of people frown upon it. And for specific reasons I completely agree. Like if you’re looking for a pure bred species and it’s “not” genetically can be annoying. More to the point. I had like 6-7 oranger lasers plus I had just added another bunch of 3 to a 25 tall. and had to move my to move my 3-4 panda’s and 2 bronze corys. (They were together) so I put them in with the lasers. Had a crazy spawning action but only noticed the lasers so I spawned the fry.. they all look super healthy etc but I wanted to ask if people have done more research on the genetics and if certain species “hybrids” of corys work.. most of these came out bronze type or with some speckles. But if I disclosed they were hybrids etc is there pointe risk for them to still spawn “amongst” hybrids of similar genetics etc. Ps. I’d never mislead someone but was curious if opinions have changed or if there is a course of action people have been taking besides culling. It was an accident, didn’t really think fully haha but they do look pretty cool. Like is it possible to solidify hybrid genetics if they aren’t “sterile”.
  7. Let's See them Flowerhorns! I love hybrids, some hate them. Let's see those unique genetic monsters that IMO have the best personalities!
