Hello, a week or two I saw my male red Aggie was breathing alittle heavy, didn’t think much of it. He was still eating a lot and being very active and normal. Last night I noticed he was alittle off but was still eating but acting different and breathing heavy. Today when I came home he was upside down and breathing very heavy, he is on his way out. I didn’t want him to suffer so I euthanized him. A couple months ago I had some issues with Gill flukes and killed three gold rams, but I haven’t had any issues since. Not sure if this is the same issue. But the Aggie had no soars or bloating, but the rams did. The Aggie seemed completely normal minus the heavy breathing but no sores or anything of the sort. Can gill flukes lie dormant for a time? No fish have been added since March.

I'm trying to place an order on the website for some medication. I need to treat both Gill flukes and internal worms. I just received some Guppies and zebra danios. The Danios have flared gills and the Guppies are looking kind of skinny. Stringy poop. I tried watching videos on thier YouTube channel but I'm undecided what to get, what should I order? Guppies and danios are in separate aquariums. Guppies are in a 10 gallon and danios are in a 29 gallon. If that helps in knowing how much I need to treat

Last week I noticed a few of my endler fry flicking/quickly rubbing themselves against a smooth rock in the tank. One started doing it and then a couple other followed. I thought they might just be horsing around and playing follow the leader, but then I saw some mama endlers and some adult platy do it too. Uh oh. Pretty sure that means gill flukes. So I did a full 5-day paracleanse treatment for the whole tank: full doses on Day 1 and Day 3, 25% water change Day 5. It seemed to offer some relief since they seem to be flashing less often during treatment, but it's hard to tell because they were doing it pretty infrequently before. Day 5 was Thursday and things seemed fine. Now on Sunday I'm seeing them start up again. I should note that their appetite and energy have all been awesome the entire time. Whole crew of hungry hungry hippos coming up and begging for food every time I get near the glass. They haven't seemed to have trouble breathing or inflamed gills (it's hard to tell on some of the paler platy, though, who seem to naturally have pretty red gills). Should I start another round of Paracleanse or should I wait to see if anyone's looking more sick? Water parameters: Temp: 76-78F pH 7.4 KH: 10-20ppm GH: 150ppm Ammonia & Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 10-20ppm

Over a week ago, I mentioned how my betta fish was showing signs of a parasitic infection (I’m pretty certain they are some type of gill fluke) and asked for some thoughts to confirm my approach. It’s been eight days so far of Copper Safe treatment. For the past few days, Samphan was showing much more normal behavior (doing his wiggle dances, being active and exploratory, not flashing or twitching). However today (day eight), he’s pretty lethargic and sticking close to the top. Not much gill movement (so no heavy breathing), no appetite at all (which is a new symptom) and occasional head twitching. I did a 10% water change and dosed Copper Safe only for the water replaced (as it is chelated and remains in the water for up to a month and until its water changed out). There was no behavioral change, good or bad. I’m unable to check the therapeutic level of copper because the copper test kit I ordered that was supposed to arrive the same day as the medication keeps being delayed, and there’s no other way I can get it. So I’ve been very careful to calculate the dosage amount and dose with a syringe to keep it exact as I can. I’m a little worried, given the lack of appetite and lethargy. I do know that lack of appetite can occur with Copper Safe. It could also be that more parasites have hatched and are now bothering him as well, as another thought I’ve had. But I want to confirm with you all if keeping the Copper Safe in the water (and still continuing treatment) is a good idea. What are all of your thoughts?

I've been battling gill flukes for quite some time in a 55 only stocked with zebra Danios. I'm going to start a dose of prazipro tonight. While on a break from work today I noticed one of them had very thick and blood red feces hanging from it. I was wondering if this could be Camallanus? If so I don't understand how the tank could have been infected.

Greetings A week ago, I bought 6 adults and 1 tiny guppies at my LFS for my species only 10g tank (well, and 1 nerite snail). Aqueon quietflow 10 filter, pH 7.6, 0/0/20. 75f. Half live plants/half plastic. One guppy was much more frail, and was always constipated. He started having issue swimming, his belly sank in and yesterday I put him in a hospital container when his fins started clamping together. Treated him with salt but the next day he was even more miserable so I euthanized him. SIP. After I put him in the hospital container, I did a 10% WC in my 10 g. I noticed one fish started rubbing on plants, filter, rocks and substrate rather often, several times in a row. Then 2 other started but much less often. I tested my water (pH 7.6, 0/0/20. 75f.). Did yet another 10% WC. Used Seachem Prime and Seachem Stability. The fish that was doing the flashing the most is still doing it, but less frequently- maybe once every 15-30 minutes. I haven’t seen the other 2 do it. They all eat and seem to poop just fine. There is no white dots so I do not think it’s ich but I read it could be gill fluke? I live in Canada so I only have access to salt. Should I treat my tank or wait and see? Will the salt affect the fry? How much flashing is too much flashing? If I treat the tank with salt, will it kill my plants (marino moss ball, anubia barteri var nana, Bacopa Caroliniana & cryptocoryne tropica)? If I move the fish to a hospital tank - I do not have one that is cycled right now... or should I just remove the plants and put them in a temporary container with the led lights while I treat the main tank? Is it dangerous if I use the same syphon hose/scaping tool for my 20g? Karen

Nitrates: 40ppm Nitrites: 0ppm GH: 300ppm KH: 0ppm PH: 6.3 This is a 55 gallon setup with around 100 zebra Danios. It's been setup for over a year. The other day while doing a water change I noticed 3 Danios with bloody red gills and labored breathing. I watched closely for 24 hours and lost one. At that point I started a round of salt medication. 3tbs per gal. The following day I lost another. Any recommendations or experience with gill flukes? I have read up a little bit on the flukes and not quite sure how my zebras came down with it. I have seen that praziquantel is a popular treatment for such an issue. Being that I don't have any on hand, I was thinking of using another antiparasitic med such as levamisol. I just happen to have a ton of it on hand. Would you keep up with the salt treatment or switch to anti parasite meds, and has anyone had experience getting rid of flukes with levamisol? I would love as many opinions as possible so I can weigh my options.
