  1. I've been treating my fish with Ich-X as part of the Aquarium Coop quarantine recommendations and for a recent ich outbreak. But just now I read that Ich-X should not be used with sulfur-containing water conditioners. from HIkari website: https://www.hikariusa.com/water_quality_folder/ich_x.html (under Directions) "NOTE: We do not recommend using any sulfur or sulfinite-based water conditioners with this product. If your normal water conditioner does not list the ingredients please verify with the maker that it does not contain these ingredients. If you notice any rotten egg smell to the product, it likely does have these ingredients and should be avoided as it could cause the product to be less effective and the dissolved oxygen levels to be negatively impacted." from Fritz website: https://fritzaquatics.com/products/fritz-complete (under FAQ's) "Can I use this with Aquarium Solutions Ich-X? Fritz Complete - NOT SAFE; this is a sulfoxylate-based conditioner and can affect the medication" Yikes! I've been struggling with ich on my shubunkin for a couple months and I've been using Fritz Complete for longer than that. Does anyone else have any info on using Ich-X with Fritz Complete? Or alternatives that don't have sulfur?
  2. I've been using a water conditioner that measures as 5 ml / 10 gallons water. I just ran out, so I got out my first bottle of Fritz Complete. It says to measure 5 ml / 50 gallons. That's quite a difference! Needing to treat just 2 gallons, I got a 1.0 ml syringe, and used 0.2 ml of Fritz Complete in the 2 gallons of water. That amount looks miniscule! Could that really be enough? I'm having a hard time believing it.
  3. I always use prime I have some heavy metals in my source water and it never left me down. I wanted a measured pump like the fritz. (I was jealous) Looked into switching but all I could find was a few things that said fritz complete does not treat for metals and does not claim to but fritz guard does but does not treat for ammonia nitrite or nitrate. So I couldn’t switch to complete to get the pump ☹️I ordered the fritz complete anyway just to get the pump 🤣. when it came I read the bottle and it claims to reduce nitrATES??? (I don’t have a nitrate problem but this question has been bugging me to pieces) Everyone keeps saying prime and fritz complete are the same. But both claim different things. And fritz guard claims a third set (actually just claims less things) 1. Why does prime claim heavy metal safety fritz complete does not but fritz guard does. is there a chemical difference to support these differences in claims? If so what is it please. 2. What is this nitrate detox how does it work? Does it work? Prime and fritz guard do not claim this 3. what is the actual chemical makeup difference between prime and fritz complete and fritz guard I read a lot of reviews some say fine switch some say fish died maybe this has to do with the heavy metal detox? I just have never heard of any nitrate detoxification. Please these are sincere questions as I have no interest in any of the great fish keeping debates about ammonia detoxification actually working or not. I’m not concerned about ammonia. I really appreciate your help. Thank you in advance 😁
  4. Does anyone use Fritz Complete say weekly just to help keep things in good shape? Among other reasons I like the idea it would help with the nitrates. Thanks.
  5. I am nearing that time when my huge bottle of Prime needs to be replaced. I’ve thought I would try Fritz Complete because of the easy dosing with the pump, but I recently saw some stories of people who switched and had issues. But we all know how the internet is, and who knows what could have actually been the problem. Care to ease my concern by sharing your Fritz Complete experiences? If this doesn’t go well, I’m just going to buy more Prime. 🤣
  6. Hello all I just ordered some Fritz Complete from aquarium coop but before I start using it I was a bit confused. The online description on the aquarium coop store page says 1 squirt for every 10 gallons, however when I opened the direction tab underneath it says 1 squirt or 1 tsp per every 50 gallons. Just want to make sure I use the right amount! Thank you https://www.aquariumcoop.com/collections/water-care/products/fritz-complete-water-conditioner-8oz
  7. can i add Fritz Complete Water Conditioner and prime together for avoiding new tank syndrome or both are mutually exclusive. my new tank has some guppies. Any experiences / recommendations
  8. I was doing independent research after my dissolved oxygen dropped today in my qt tank and apparently Fritz Complete is unsafe to use with Ich-X. The FAQ on the company webpage states that the sulfoxylate-based conditioner can affect the medication. My question is, how does it affect Ich-X? Does it make the medication ineffective or is there something more immediately threatening (in my case, dropping dissolved oxygen). I know that most conditioners will reduce oxygen levels temporarily but this is my first experience with fish gasping at the surface and I'm trying to troubleshoot to prevent it from happening again. I ended up losing one of my angels as a result of the deoxygenated water and likely would've lost the entire group if I hadn't done a 1/3 water change and added two more sponge filters to the tank.
