  1. Any Fluval Flex tank owners out there who have encountered a water level drop in the pump compartment? The heater is back there and is too exposed. This tank is the 9 gal version that I’ve had up for about 2 years and has about 20 2-month old molly fry and their mom. Both upper and lower intakes are blocked with sponge (not coarse but not fine either) and one of the two outputs is also blocked with sponge. The intake compartment and the center sponge compartment have normal water levels. Is it all the blocked intakes?
  2. I have looked around at a few modification videos for Fluval Flex tanks, but I wanted to ask the community personally. Because apparently Goldie Blue likes to keep me on the edge of my seat, he is feeling much better and cruising all around his new Flex 9, and has taken to sticking himself to the bottom left intake. Obviously he is still recovering from his fin rot, so I don't want him doing stupid stuff like this. I had a piece of black foam in the slot behind there for a week or so, but it smelled really mildew-y (is that even a word??) when I took it out to see how it was looking. I have some filter floss on hand, as well as some blue sponge stuff. If anyone knows a good way to mod this tank so he stops sticking himself on there, please share. This fish is going to give me a stroke lol.
  3. i have asked my roommate if i could get another tank and they said its fine as long as i find a place to put it and it isnt noisy. he is very sensitive to sound and is worried about the noise output. i tried finding it online but couldnt find anything.
  4. Hi, I have a 15g Fluval Flex and am very interested in loaches, I know of the kuhli loach, the dwarf chain loach, and the hillstream loach. Are there any other small species that could work in my tank? Thanks, Jack
  5. Hi, looking at the Flex 9 and wondering if anyone would give their opinion on it or the series itself. Looking to swap out my 3 for it, but I don't want to go too big. 10g or less.
  6. is anyone using a fluval 3.0 nano on fluval flex? How did you mount it? and how successful were you with plants?
  7. Would a dwarf Lilly grow be too big in a 15 g fluval flex?
  8. I have a small corner that I want to put a peninsula style tank in. I am considering a BioCube 32 or Fluval Flex 15 for this corner. What are your opinions on these two units? I'm not crazy about the plastic look of the BioCube but I can get more tank for the width that I have space for. I only have 26" of wall that I can take up. What are peoples thoughts on these two units, or do you have any other ideas on what I can get? I want to keep the look of the equipment clean and not visible that's why I am considering these two units. Thank you for the response.
  9. Hi everyone, I'm having an odd problem with my 9 gallon Fluval Flex. I set it up about a week ago. It's a heavily planted tank with a betta fish and a nerite snail. I did a in-fish cycling and so far everything has been going smoothly until yesterday. It's starting to cycle however, after I did a 50% water change last night and filled the water back up I noticed that the intake filter isn't working properly. I've done my research on the tank and I haven't seen any one mention problems with the intake per say. The problem is that it's sucking in debris and other things but it spits it right back out into the water. I ran some tests on my water as did my local fish store and my ammonia was spiked which is why I did a large water change yesterday and I'm glad I did. Would the intake working incorrectly have a large effect on the ammonia? I would appreciate any advice and or suggestions on how to fix this problem.
  10. I recently purchased a Fluval Flex 9 gallon for my betta. It came with Bio media and carbon. I was watching a video from KGTropicals on his review of the Fluval Flex. He mentioned that because he has a planted aquarium he will not be using the carbon filter. I too have a planted tank so I wanted to verify if the carbon filter should be removed.
  11. I put a plug in timer on my flex but it will only start in storm mode. Any idea? I tried putting it in white mode and unplugging and plugging back in but no luck
  12. I have just purchased a Fluval Flex 15 and I want this to be a nice planted tank. Looking for suggestion's on what lighting to use. Not going to go with anything crazy as far as plants are concerned. Just simple easy to take care of plantings. I will also have a few fish and shrimp in the tank. Was looking at the Fluval Nano and the Fluval plant 3.0. I'm concerned the 3.0 may be overkill but I would hate to buy the nano and then need more. Please give me your input. Thank you Brandon
  13. I am looking for an aquarium for my apartment that limits tanks to 20 gallons. I have been looking at the fluval flex because it has a wide base which allows more aqua scaping options. What are peoples reviews on this aquarium I keep reading they have thin glass which scares me a little.
  14. I just purchased a 15 gallon Fluval Flex tank and want to know how many types and quantities of fish and shrimp I can keep? I’m looking to go with cardinal or blue neon tetras and cherry shrimp. This is the hard part, I would also like to have at least 2 honey Gourami. Is this possible and if so how many of each species? I do weekly water changes/vac on my current nano planted tank. I also do media rinsing/cleaning once per month, but I’m willing to do it twice per month if needed on the Flex.
  15. Would the flow be too much for Apistogramma cacatuoides and harlequin rasboras?
  16. I went to an auction this past Saturday, and tucked amongst a bunch of tools, lawn equipment and such was a Fluval flex 15 gallon tank. I ended up getting it for $7, including some mixed blue gravel and an auto fish food feeder. The only problem is, it didn't have the light included. I am thinking of setting it up at work in my office and doing it planted with some shrimp and nano fish. Can any of you guys give me ideas for a small light that will be good for plants for this tank, maybe a clip on type? I haven't really done too much research yet, but would the Fluval nano one be too powerful?
  17. Was thinking of making it a apistogramma tank or pea puffer tank ? What y’all think or what else would look good that can possible breed or just for looks ? Thanks in advance for ur opinions I love getting people’s opinions:). PS got these three plants for it 🙂
