Water Parameters: pH: 7.2 - 7.4 Nitrates: 0ppm Hardness: 71.6 (4 drops on GH API test) Nitrite: 0ppm Ammonia: 0ppm KH/Buffer: 53.7 (3 drops on KH API test) Water Temperature: 79-80F So I've had this guppy since Saturday, she's in a quarantine tank with 5 other female guppies, notably bigger but I haven't seen any bullying. I drip acclimated them for an hour and a half because I had poor luck with female guppies the last time I got them and was being cautious. One of my guppies died yesterday, no known cause that I can see, she was acting fine the night before and I woke up to her being on the bottom of the tank. As you can see in the photo, this one is having some fin tearing and some white spots? It doesn't look like ich to me but I luckily haven't seen a whole lot of ich so it could be. They're all currently sitting in the med trio and I fed them yesterday. She was the only one I saw not eating, she may have had one pellet but she was mostly in the back away from everyone else. What do yall think this is and what should I do? I have crushed coral and 1.5 tbsp of aquarium salt in the tank. I know the gh/kh is most likely too low for guppies but I'm unsure of what I should do to raise it that I haven't already done.

I have a betta named butter and he was fine when I got him initially but after a week or so he got a bad case of fin rot. I treated him in a quarantine with silk plants and after his fin started growing back I placed him back in his original tank. Now his fins are getting torn again. The tank is a planted tank but he keeps wedging himself between the roots and leaves. I believe this is what is tearing his fins but I don’t know how to get him to stop. The parameters are fine (78*F, 6.8 gallons, 0ppm nitrite and ammonia, below 20ppm nitrate). he is in there with two nerites and several shrimp. he likes to squeeze himself between the nerite roots in the first picture. he didnt rub up against the silk plants in his quarantine tank so i have no idea what's going on and why he is doing this

Hi guys, I've had a double tail betta for 1.5 years in a fully planted 10 gallon Walstad-style tank. His only tankmates are red cherry shrimp and nerite snails. There are no sharp edges in his tank. For the past 6 months, he has been biting his tail all the time. There will be round sections gone from his tail/fins that clearly look like fish bites. He has a really hard time swimming when his fins are full length, and I think he gets frustrated. His fins then get infected, I treat him for fin rot, his fins grow back, he bites them again, and the cycle repeats. I have used salt, antibiotics, and stress coat. Is there anything I can do? Tank Parameters: Temp: 76 F pH: 7.5 Ammonia and Nitrites: 0 ppm Nitrates: 5 ppm Thanks!

Hello Coop community, First the tank details and info then below is my fishie issue: South American Style heavily planted aquascape. 300 liters / 79 gallons Filter: Oase 600 biomaster and eheim skimmer unit Water parameters according to Coop test strips: Nitrate: 0, Nitrite: 0, Hardness: 0, Buffer: 0, PH: 6,4, Chlorine: 0, Temp: 23 C / 73,4 F CO2 injected at about 20 / 30 mg per liter via inline system (comes on 2 hours before lights and goes off 1 hour bf they go off). 10 hours of lighting per day. Fertilizer: Dennerle fertilizer system. Inhabitants 9 angels (Bulgarian Green Seal Point), 20 cardinals, 20 green neons, 16 corys (orange lazer and eversi), 7 panda garra, 1 whiptail cat, 2 flying foxes. The water we have is really soft (Black Forrest, Germany) and it isnt RO its just mountain water. But almost all my species are south American originally or from areas that have soft water. I used to do 1 50-80% water change every 2 weeks but now I do it every week since the start of the month bc of my current issue (see below). Feeding 1-2 a day. 1 day of fasting / week. Now here is my problem: My angels are having some issues with their dorsal and anal fins (top and bottom ones). In the photos you will see they are slowly deteriorating on the top and have some slime on them. They are also attracting what seem to be the co2 bubbles. There seems to be some stringy substance coming from the fins. To try to improve the problem I have upped my water changes to once a week and also added lots of catappa leaves to see if that would help. I am thinking of using a catappa concentrate (https://www.sera.de/en/product/freshwater-aquarium/sera-phyto-med-catappa/) starting tomorrow after a water change to see what that does. My fish are eating well, super active and the colors are very good atm. So I am really at a loss for what is going on. It is also only the angels that are currently having this fin problem. Other fish seem to be just great. Any thoughts or ideas would really be helpful. I want to get their fins healed up and be a good fish papa! Many thanks. Will

I have a betta that is sick, and showing dropsy. Currently only doing aquarium salt. I've already completed kanaplex and had a little epsom in the tank as well. His bloat improved but pineconing is still there. More lethargic but does still swim when he wants, and still eats. So this morning I noticed this on his fins. The ends turned pinkish shortly after getting him. But the portions where the fins are red at the ends is what concerns me. It looks like blood, and it's like that part of his fins were cut. But I've seen bettas who nipped their fins and never saw it like this. Any idea? I'm showing all the fins incase you notice something. But the part in question is on the bottom of the picture.

Hello all! This is my first post as a new user so bare with me! I rescued this beautiful dumbo halfmoon betta about a month ago now. Sakura has been living in my 3.5 gallon quarantine tank. It has an internal filter (with a homemade plastic baffle with no sharp edges) with cycled coarse sponge media and Purigen (which was removed during meds of course), a heater and an air stone. No sharp decor. Silk plant. Bare bottom. Hiding spots and a hammock. I treated him with Paracleanse and then a round of Maracyn and Maracyn 2. He came through beautifully and healthy. It looks to me like he has a lot of new fin growth, particularly on his tail, but I’m not sure. It seems he’s ripped some of that new growth (if that’s what it is) overnight and I just wanted to make sure my assumption is correct that it is new growth that is just fragile and I don’t need to worry. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0 nitrate (from 50% water changes every other day to keep the water super clean to help with the growth). Dechlorinating with Prime and adding StressGuard. Feeding Xtreme Betta pellets, Hikari Bio-Gold Betta Pellets or Vibra Bites soaked in VitaChem in the AM (only 1 or two pieces) and frozen daphnia or brine shrimp in the PM (dropper sized amount to not overfeed). Water temp 80 degrees. PH stays around 7. I know parameters are helpful. He is super active and inquisitive, no signs of lethargy or anything. Heck, he plays in the air stone bubbles all the time. It’s cute! Here are some pictures to help. The floating white dots are from his weekly dose of VitaChem into his water! As an aside, I have a 10 gallon, planted forever home I’m preparing for him post quarantine! So, new, fragile growth? Or something nefarious? All of his fins have that line where the solid old fin is and then clear-ish new? fin is growing?? Thanks all! Bec

So I inherited a betta with a 5 gal tank almost 2 months ago. I put him my cycled 33 gal instead. When he came, his fins were damaged. Since then, he seems to have pretty good regrowth. I'd like to keep a journal of his recovery 🙂 Before March 26: Today: th

Hi y’all! First time posting to the forum. My bettas fins are showing some new damage. I’ve had him for about a year. 10 gallon planted tank with 1 betta, 3 ember tetras, 2 male endler, and a bunch of snails. Water parameters ph 7, kh 80-100, gh 100+\-, nitrate 5-10 ppm. No chlorine I have well water and temp is 72, but we had a cold snap so it’s usually around 74. I treated him for fin rot about 2 months ago but noticed a new tear in his fin about a week ago. I recently switched to a sponge filter from a crappy hang on back but otherwise the tank hasn’t changed. I’m concerned about where his dorsal fin (the one on top?) meets his body and he has a small red spot on the end of his tail fin that I just saw today. Does this look like reemergence of fin rot or more like environmental damage? Thanks for reading! Pics on tumblr

Should I bag and re-acclimate my Gardneri Killi from QT to main tank or net and drop in? He had an injured pectoral fin. He’s just about healed up, waiting on the fin to grow out some more before returning him to my main tank. The water parameters are different now in the QT from doing wc vs main tank wc from when I started the quarantine. Temp in main tank is 78 and 77 in qt. Main tank has live plants, driftwood with tannins in the water. QT is bare bottom with a plastic decor to hide and small Java Fern. Dosing with Seachem Stressguard to encourage healing. Any advice is appreciated.

I got home from work and Gucci's tail is completely shredded? It was 100% fine last night, and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed something wrong this morning when I fed him. He's in a 10 gallon with a handful of ramshorn snails and a few dwarf emerald rasboras, who have never shown the slightest inclination to nip his fins. I did dose the tank with the med trio in my initial panic, but I have had bettas in the past and I've never seen this sort of fin damage done in the span of a day. What could have caused it?
