I am having trouble keeping my sturbai corys alive. I got 4 new Corys about a month ago, 1 died over the first night, and 1 died a week later. I tested my water, which was fine, and all my other fish seem fine. I change my water regularly, etc etc. This morning i saw one of the remaining cory's really having a hard time. he was not only darting to the top of the tank, but splashing all around at the top of the water going nuts. afterwards he sank down and was looking terrible. Researching this I saw someone posting that they had similar problem and solved it with an air stone. I realized that in my past tanks I always had a waterfall pump of some sort and this tank was the first with a completely submerged pump (its a Fluval) and that it has no aeration. Is it possible this is the problem with the cory's not making it but the other fish are fine? what is the best way to aerate water in this kind of tank.

I caught my Corydoras sterbai doing what I believe was mating this afternoon. I found what I think are 3 eggs on my aquarium glass. I'm assuming there may be or were more, but my tank is heavily planted with quite a few other fish that may be munching on them. I've pulled them into a breeder box in the display tank. Do these look like fertile cory eggs?

Hello everyone, I am from California and am 24 years old. I have been keeping aquariums for about 10 years now. I currently have 5 aquariums, a 5 gallon, 10 gallon, 29 gallon, 40 breeder and a 55 gallon. They are all freshwater planted aquariums. I have had my 40 gallon breeder set up for about 2 years or so. Just a few days ago I noticed what I thought was a new leaf from one of my crypts. After closer inspection, it appears to be a flower. I never knew crypts could flower while submersed. Does anyone have any experience with this? I think it would be interesting to attempt to get seeds from it if anyone knows how.

Hello all, I have the opportunity to purchase 12 Sterbai Corys or 6 Orange Laser Corys, both at the same price. I absolutely love the lasers, however I also dig me some sterbai’s. They would be going into a 75. I’m leaning a bit towards the Sterbai’s because of the quantity, however I am curious what you folks would do if presented with the same situation. Thank you

One of my local fish stores finally had some Sterbaii Corydora in two weeks ago, but they were quarantined. I went back a week later and they still had them quarantined. They said they had some trouble with some and they wanted to continue watching them. A week later they had sold all but three, but a wanted three! They looked pretty good in the tank. I spoke with the employee helping me about them being in quarantine for two weeks. I asked if they lost a lot of them or if they sold them. He said they sold them. When I got them home one of the little guys looks a little rough. I don’t remember any of them looking like this in the tank, but he did have a hard time catching one of them. I’ve included a picture. Since they had been in QT at the store for so long I was just going to watch them and see how they did. But now I am considering a round of Paracleanse. What do you all think? I have an established QT tank that they were only added to last night, but here are the parameters. pH 8 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 5 Hardness Unknown, but hard. Temperature 76

I was cleaning out the Eheim Pro 3 on the discus tank today. If you’re not familiar with this canister there are 4 trays in the stack with the top one having the coarse sponge. I’ve got all the trays in the slop sink to clean the pads so as I clean them the trays go back in the canister. I get to the top tray pull out the coarse sponge and clean it before I put it back into the tray I rinse the gunk out of it and what’s flapping around in the bottom of the sink a pair of Sterbai Cory fry. They must of got sucked in when I took the intake sponge off to clean it early last week.
