I had my pair of blue gouramies spawn in my community tank back in January. I pulled the eggs out and decided to hatch them out in another tank. The tank is an 20 gallon plastic tub with a heater and hang on the back filter. I have been feeding the fry live baby brine for most of their lives, high protein flake, frozen cyclops and marine mix etc. The problem is that they seem to be tanking FOREVER to grow. They are putting on size incredibly slowly. I perform a 50% water change 3 times a week, and these guys are barely growing. I was told that fry can reach sellable size in 2-3 months but these guys are about 8 months old and nowhere near being ready to be sold. Am I doing something wrong with the fry?? I had to leave the tank on the auto-feeder for more then a month and lost about 6 fish. I expected to sell them way before but I had no idea they are growing so slowly. Is this just a species thing or is it my upbringing??? I would like to get into breeding fish but if these isn't working and the fry take forever to grow, despite my best efforts I feel really discouraged. -
Hello. We just moved Bobbi, our blue gourami into a new home. Went from 10g to 20g. Planted. The 2 diffences are we put a black background on the new aquarium and we added a small light. She pretty much hangs out down by the ferns 90% of the time. Comes out for food but seems to be staring into the black background most of the time. She used to be more social. Thoughts? -
Hello! This is my very first post! I am looking for info on blue/three-spot gourami stocking. Some resources I have seen recommend keeping them in a pair or trio, however I have also read that males in particular can be very territorial. At my local fish store, they had probably 30 of them together. Which is best? Thank you in advance! -
Hi all. My blue gouramis mated and now we have eggs!! My question is this, they are in a community tank with 2 angelfish, 1 common pleco and 1 pictus catfish. Can I move the eggs to another tank to hatch safely? Any and all help will be appreciated. Thank you.
