  1. Cool setup! But I notice you have kind of a greenish tank and algae, is that because of the lightning?
  2. Oh that doesn't sound bad, is the 107 16/22mm from the factory?
  3. Well I would go with multiple moderate ones, since you can place them at different areas and they will do more filtration than just one big one. Also, if you're running USB air pumps, having another one as a redundant filter is also beneficial in case of an incident or something.
  4. Hello, so I have this canister filter that has a 16mm output size, and I'm currently looking at buying a lily pipe for it, but couldn't decide on what size. I have the 12/16mm and 16/22mm. The 16/22mm should be more suitable, but the filter has a flowrate of only 700L/h, and I'm worried that it might be too weak for a 16/22mm lilypipe. Is there such a concern?
  5. Hello, so, I recently found a second-hand stainless steel lilypipe on Facebook Marketplace, and was thinking of buying it since it was cheap, but I observed some algae on the inlet pipe in the listing image. Is this a concern? I've read that algae can actually corrode stainless steel and make it not-stainless. Much thanks.
  6. Hmm, it kind of makes sense. The main reason I'm thinking of getting a surface skimmer is because I have a ton of algae in the tank currently. I suspect it's from the plants, but I'm not sure about it. I also have quite some surface scum in the tank at all times.
  7. Hello, I just recently bought a canister filter without its intake and output accessories. (It was a second-hand one and it was cheap so I just bought it). I was just browsing online for some lily pipes but I faced this decision of whether to get an intake pipe with a skimmer or without one. I currently keep 2 Malawi cichlids in a 29 gallon but plan to increase that number to 5/6 soon. I don't really see a protein layer on my tank, but algae is a serious issue that has been persisting for ages now.
  8. I live in Southeast Asia so my options are really limited here. I haven't decided on which specific epoxy I want to use just yet. Yeah, my biggest issue is my location and there's not really much options for me.
  9. Hello, I'm working on a DIY canister filter project and I plan to use epoxy in the project. I tried searching online about whether epoxy is aquarium-safe but results I got were inconsistent, some saying it's completely safe once cured while some didn't clearly express it's safeness. Could someone advise on this issue? Thanks.
  10. Yeah I agree, but my budget is kind of constrained so I can't really afford to do a sump setup lol And yes, it will be watertight
  11. Most containers with normal lids that I found online are marketed as "airtight", but most of them are without a silicone seal. Would that work?
  12. Hello, so I've been planning to make a canister filter myself for a long time now, but never had the opportunity until now lol. So, basically, I was just browsing through the internet trying to look for clip-on containers larger than like 4 liters, but they're either not available in my country or just simply too expensive. I was wondering if I could use a container that has a screwed-on or just a regular container with a normal lid? They are my only options if I were to go bigger than 4 liters but I'm concerned about the lid not being able to handle the valves I plan to put on it and the incoming flow. Also, I'm planning to put the pump at the bottom of the canister (because its too bulky and heavy to attach below the lid) and attach an output tube to the pump, then attach the lid to the tube using some sort of adapter. The Fluval FX4 uses this design, and I noticed that their lids have this white thing which seemed to connect to the output tube. Could anyone identify what that is? Much appreciated.
