    Thank you for your answer but It is not the rim I am removing, it's the lid. the tank is rimless. Anyone with rimless bowfront and have tried not using the lid should know what I am talking about.

    I have a plastic lid on my Topfin BF 36G aquarium that I wanted to change with a glass hinge cover. The rim is at the bottom of the aquarium. Will it affect the structural stability of the aquarium? Has anyone done this?
