  1. Thank you for the responses. Since they come in a two pack, I'll try setting up the other one. It's likely to be a fluke, it happens. It won't stop me from getting more. It was great while it lasted. It also may be my fault. When I downloaded the app, it wanted to update but the update failed, hopelessly locking up my phone. Googling has shown that it may be a problem with the Android phones. I uninstalled the app completely and downloaded it again. This time it did not ask to update. When I first installed the plug, it did work, turning on in the morning and off at night. We call our area the "Newaukum triangle", (where I live near Enumclaw) as electronics and tractors frequently fail, lol. Anyway, thank you for the input. I love aquariumcoop and all the products, Wendy
  2. Mine worked at first, now only programs one command, example turns on correctly but doesn't save the off command or vice versa. I reset and reprogrammed but still will only do the 1st command/schedule setting. For me off schedule works, on does not (android)
  3. Ah, thank you. Yes, very similar, but the Eriocaulon is a little closer to what I saw because there were fewer leaves/spikes, say 6 or 8 per rosette. These look lovely though. Hair grass must in the sedge family? It looks like mini sedges (carex sp)
  4. Ah, thanks to both of you. nabokovfan87, if you need an update and have an android, I would love to hear how it goes. 🙂
  5. Yes, I think this in the genus at least. I don't remember all those basal leaves. But this Eriocaulon cinereum is close and really pretty. Thank you
  6. I searched and searched for this plant, cannot find it 😞 I saw it in the background of one of MD fishtanks vids a year ago. I just went through hours of vids trying to find it again. The plant is spikier than hair grass, more like a tiny sedge, about 4" max. It has fruits? - at the tips that look like little balls. Really cool looking. Anyone have an idea of what this might be?
  7. Has anyone else had this problem? On setup, the final step was to "update the firmware" It hangs at 75% all day. I had to "force stop" It's working but I don't dare try the firm updates.
  8. Thank you. I thought perhaps that might be it. I've put a few signs up on our driveway so ups should have an easier time now. It's an adventure for them. The driveway is like a riverbed and there are 3 cattle guards to cross, deer, elk etc. Re: Forum link. I figured it was my old eyes that were the problem, however that screen shot comes up for me for about half a second, not long enough to click the forum link. It goes right to another screen, but now I see the link at the bottom of that page. I'm just slow, lol. I just ordered another usb pump, some brine shrimp, a plant and valves. We'll see how they navigate my crazy driveway. Thanks again, Wendy
  9. I haven't been to the forum in a while. I love it, it's been very helpful. So, these are not complaints, I'm just curious. 1-is there a link somewhere on the coop website to the forum? I had a really hard time finding the blog. I had to leave the coop page and google it instead. I'm slow, the link was probably right in front of me. 😉 2- I see shipping to a PO box is no longer allowed? I live at the end of a mile long driveway that no one can find. I really loved the PO box delivery (we don't have a mailbox) I understand though if it is no longer possible. Thats it, WB
  10. Thank you Rockfisher. I'll email the lab with that question. I want to ask them if they can determine if high KH is due to carbonates or something else as well. Seems funny to me to have 2-3 degrees GH and 13 t0 14 degrees KH . I had thought calcium would contribute to general hardness but I guess not. The well is deep. It has 1400 feet of iron casing. It was a Weyerhaeuser test well. We just put 400 feet of pipe inside the casing and a submersible pump for our water. Perhaps all that pipe is contributing to iron content? Fish seem to thrive, even "soft water" species.
  11. Thank you Crow, I'll check them out
  12. Greetings: I had a lab do a complete test on our well water. It came back GH 53 ppm, PH 8.0, tds 317 ppm, and dozens of other minerals that were not detectable or low. Iron was 0.4 mg/l (ppm) which triggered a "high" result. I want to add fertilizer to my planted tanks but do not want to add any more iron. The test did not specify KH, but home test results in KH of 250 ppm. Are there low or no iron fertilizers available? Thank you in advance, Wendy
  13. Great! Thank you for the help. Now what is your favorite lens and settings? I sold my macro because I went to a full frame camera. Don't want to purchase another lens without asking those with experience in aquarium photography. I've often been disappointed with the depth of field in macro shots, even with tiny apertures. I would like more than just an eyeball in focus. (Canon girl here) Thanks again ❤️
  14. Thank you, might have to pick something else. Sawbwas get priority, apparently, they like it cooler. Suggestions?
  15. Greetings: I have a 20 long species only, Sawbwa respendens. Some blue shrimp hitched a ride on plants, so there are a few of those. I need a small group of bottom dwellers to cleanup/stir up the bottom. Sawabwa like it cool though. 64°f to 75°. Suggestions? I like the dwarf chain loach recently featured, Corydoras hastatus, and the dwarf plecos (if I could afford them 😉 ) Suggestions? (**heavily planted, ph 8.0 med. gh, high kh, cool water, 20 Sawbwa) Thank you!
  16. Thank you! I can wait. Meanwhile, I'll add that second bottle to the DIY system. Stay cool. I had to put some ice cubes in one of my outdoor tubs 😞
  17. I have had great success with my sugar/yeast DIY co2 - Until I didn't. I skipped the 2nd "wash bottle" and just went with one. Minor overflow, yeast and sugar water in the tank. I'm ready for the real thing now. I can steal a bottle of co2 from my husband's shop, just need a multiport regulator. ❤️ Any news regarding when the co-op unit will be available?
  18. Thank you for the tip 🙂 I'm headed to a pond nursery soon, will look for hardy plants and the leibergii
  19. Has anyone tried the dwarf pond lily (Nymphaea stellata) outside? A google search resulted in the low temp of 72° f. I'm in western washington and nighttime temps can be in the 50s all summer long. Looking to do some tubs this summer for fun. Thanks in advance
  20. No filter, just 400ft of steel pipe inside 1400 feet of iron casing. I worry the drilling mud they used might be affecting the well, but it was done 40 years ago and been used as a water well for 34 years. This explains why no matter how much alder cone tea I add or wood, PH stays stubbornly near 8.0. We have a 10 gal plant tank with 3 inches of aquasoil that little tank has a lower ph, it's new though, and our goldfish pond outside under a maple tree, is down around 6.4! But it's winter in western washington and the only water being added is rainwater. East coast sure has different geology than the west! I guess if the high KH doesn't bother fish, I'm ok? Thanks for replying 🙂
  21. I tested twice. For KH, I get 12-13 drops of reagent before indicating color - very high KH. For GH I get 5 drops of reagent to achieve indicator (5 degrees). How is this possible? PH is 8.0 out of the tap. We have a 1400 foot well. It was a Weyerhouser test well (looking for oil). My parents used the abandoned well, they put in 400 feet of pipe and a submersible pump, but the water is logically coming in at 1400 ft (end of the casing). Strange things going on down there! This is Washington, enumclaw plateau. Fish are thriving but I find the results odd. I recently had a costly professional water test done but it did not provide "KH", only PH (8.0) and Total Hardness which is reported as 53 mg/l or 53ppm. The only other strange thing was a slightly elevated sodium. Anyone else have numbers like this? Thanks is advance, Wendy
  22. Thank you for the replies ❤️ My bowls are in my sunroom with the plants and they fit so well in there, but I fear this is going to be a problem as my other bowl has become green-water. I will try lights off (now that the sun is shining in Washington). Don't want to move them so I'll pick away at it! Once beautiful PNW bowl is now green water (see attached) 😕
  23. Greetings: I'm new to the forum, happy to be here. Photo attached, this is a tough, well attached "thing" has recently invaded my 15 gallon bowl tank. Is this staghorn algae and does anyone have solutions? Thanks in advance.
