I want to thank everyone for your replies and help. I ordered a 30 aqua clear so I don’t blast my betta, lol. And, you know what? If I need to, I can get a 50 later if I like it in general; they’re not terribly expensive. This tank is just dirtier than my others! All that excavating, lol. I actually think my eco substrate is getting a bit powdered by the CAE. Next I am going to check alternate substrates for that reason. Something plants will like, tho.

Hi all, Just picked up a 20 long to upgrade our crown tail betta and his Chinese algae eater buddy. Laurel the CAE has a degree in engineering and excavating. Kicks it up in the process. Need a good filter to clean up after him. He gets the plants dirty, too! Question: is the aqua clear 50 (which is rated for 20-50 gallons) too strong for the betta? I haven’t had aqua clear before, so I’m looking for your experience with them, pls. I’m looking for as much filtration as possible without crazy water. I feel like the 30 (rated 10-30gal) would be barely there? I appreciate any advice. Oh, I am running a sponge filter with air stone also. (But I don’t count that)

I know this is late! I hope you’re having luck with your baby. I got some 72 hour heat packs off Amazon for emergencies. Wrap them and your QT tank in a nice warm wool blanket. You’re probly going to want dim light anyway.

I just saw your post. Right about that time, I also had trouble. Couldn’t sign in, or if I finally did, couldn’t access wish list. Had to order later on. Didn’t want you to think that you were the only one 😶

I use a square hunk of melamine to go up and down in the corners so I don’t hit the silicone with my 4” razor blade. Then I hit the walls with blade. Yes, my arm gets wet, but it works really slick! Get the right angle on the razor against glass; one swipe fast.

We’ve had our betta for about a year now. I’m so sorry you are faced with this. I don’t want to think about the inevitable days for all our pets. But who would trade we we give and receive? I’m smiling now,,,

Thanks everyone ☺️ Been in research mode. It’s looking like I have ramshorn! I may be leaning toward the planorbis planorbis. It is very small and does stay flat on glass or leaves (mostly glass). Maybe they are so small cuz we pluck ‘em, tho. Open mind. But not on the subject of plucking. I am team Dean.

Patrick, do you find them to be a pest ever? How do you keep your population controlled? (My first snails, intentionally or not)

Hi every! New here. I will introduce myself and my tanks when I can move again. (Imminent back surgery). But, for now,,, I can’t find an ID on this snail. Not many get past pinhead size or so cuz we pluck them out. Not too many right now. DO NOT want an explosion! Lol. Thanks for any info about these ‘guests’. They look different than your usual suspects
