  1. If I wanted to avoid all this guesswork and go with RODI water what products do I need to remineralize it? Or maybe I should use tap + a macros only fertilizer.
  2. I switched to EG from Flourish recently because I noticed Flourish has Calcium in it and I'm pretty sure my tap water is full of calcium already and I dont know whether too much of it is a bad thing but you're saying it is. EG does contain magnesium though, how do I know whether my water contains plenty of magnesium already? I assume it does if thats commonly in hard water so maybe I'm doing more harm than good by adding an all in 1 that contains magnesium.
  3. I have very hard water (gh around 15), so I'm wondering if I should I be using an all in 1 fertilizer like easy green as directed anyway? A lesser amount? None at all? I don't really understand the difference between macros and micros, am I likely to be missing one or the other in my water and thus maybe should use a more specific fertilizer rather than an all in 1? Thanks.
  4. I live in Arizona where the water is very hard. Is it worth using remineralized RO water or a mix of RO/tap water if I'm planning to keep fish like tetras? If so how do I find out what mix to use? My other question is about fertilizer. With very hard water should I be dosing much less fertilizer than someone with very soft water? Its unclear to me whether some or all of the minerals contained in fertilizers are already present in my water. Like I assume something such as easy iron would do more harm to my plants than good?
  5. I have a 21g long I'm using a medium size sponge filter on. The aquatop ap50 I use it with is too loud so I want to find another option. Will I get enough air using 1 nano air pump instead of the ap50 or should l use 2 nanos with 2 smaller sponges? It's a moderately planted tank, no CO2. No fish in it yet but planning for bioload to be relatively small (small school of neons, maybe a Betta and/or shrimp/snails).
  6. No matter how short I make the airline tubing connecting the airstone (I dont think it cant get any shorter than what I have it connected as now) or straight I try to make it I still get like 1 bubble every 7-10 seconds coming out the top of the sponge rather than through the green tube. Using an aquarium co op medium sponge filter, and same result whether I'm using usb nano air pump or aquatop ap50 air pump. Is there anything else that will help and does it matter in terms of effectiveness of the filter? Thanks.
