  1. Rubbing alcohol is very quick and effective. Also cheap and widely available. Alcohol evaporates off and is non toxic if you still choose to compost, which seems like a good option.
  2. Hi, does anyone have experience using Kordon brand methylene blue? Also, im slightly confused, some of the co-op videos talk about being hard to get now a days, but it looks available online through a variety of vendors. Including in a 1 gal option! Am i missing something, or is the concentration/ formula different now? My sterbai are starting to mature and spawn, would like to have some on hand to prevent egg fungus’ing. Thanks!
  3. That helps! Thank you @StevesFishTanks and @Dean’s Fishroom
  4. Hi, Does anyone know if any of these mixing valves need a recirc line built in? Or do you dump water until it gets up to temp? Ive looked at instructions for many and its not very clear to me how hot water flows enough to make the valve happy and hot for mixing. Can these be used with tankless water heaters also? Or only tanked heaters? Ive paused @Dean’s Fishroom videos many times trying to figure out that bit of plumbing with no success! What am I missing?
  5. Thanks for the info everyone! I’ll poke around and see if I can find those brands. I’m planning on doing overflows drains for three tanks, 20, 30, and 75 with timer fills, either unheated drip or temp controlled flow with RO line, havent decided yet. Figured either way a 3/4 bulkhead and over flow could handle either. Thanks for your help, nice to have great resources to lean on out there
  6. Anyone have a bulkhead brand they like? New to bulkhead mounts and dont want to waste my time with cheap or poorly made parts. Thanks!
  7. Went from 1 tank, to 3 recently, adding a 75gal. Planning on plumbing all three with bulkhead drains that will connect to a mainline drain, through the exterior wall, end the pipe over a 100 gal Rubbermaid livestock tank outside. Nutrient rich water for a new rice fish playground!
  8. Jealous of the 72 gal bow front! I cant seem to find them anywhere in the greater Seattle area
  9. Hi, wonderful tank and set up. Thats is actually the same size and shape tank that i would like to get for a similar planted set up. Tough tank to find though around here. Did your LFS store carry them or did you have to special order?
  10. Hi, I’ve been puttering around in my same planted 30gal tank for the last 15yrs, and finally getting the time and money to go bigger. Wondering what brand tank to get? Going to stay with glass, are they all about equal these days? I’m shooting for 55gal. Thanks!
