  1. I wouldn’t go any higher as it just adds stress to the fish. Whenever I use ich x I never increase the temp because the medicine is treating it. I would treat and start slowly bringing the temp back down.
  2. I’ve heard that they have over wintered in Washington state without heaters and I’m gonna try it this winter in mid Alabama…
  3. That’s awesome. I set up a permanently outside one this summer with longear sunfish. No breeding yet but hopefully this spring they will start. I’m in Alabama and I’m gonna try to overwinter firemouths outside because I’ve heard of people doing it in much colder environments. Can’t wait to see how that goes…
  4. Well I would start off by getting at least 5 more green tiger barbs. They are a schooling fish which means they generally like groups of six or more to be extra happy. I then would get some more black and white skirt tetras to make a group of six for each. I think that would look real good.
  5. So I’ve got some black Rubbermaid totes and I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to make them more pleasing to the eye. I’m thinking about wrapping some in some bamboo fence lining but am looking for some more ideas.
  6. Cory has always said that they use the trio for every fish (including those) so I personally wouldn’t think twice about it. https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/faqs/how-to-use-quaratine-med-trio
  7. Looks like an injury to me. I would keep the water very clean and it could heal up itself. If you notice it getting worse then I would say order some of the med trio from aquariumcoop. The maracyn and ich x is what you would want. The maracyn is for bacterial infections and the ich x is for fungal infections. Might be a good idea to go ahead and get it just in case it gets worse
  8. If you want to be able to turn off and on the brine shrimp hatcher then you will need a valve. You can just install it close to your brine shrimp hatcher for convenience https://www.aquariumcoop.com/products/ziss-premium-air-valve
  9. I think this is what you need. It’s pretty self explanatory https://www.aquariumcoop.com/products/t-airline-splitter?_pos=1&_psq=t&_ss=e&_v=1.0
  10. I would definitely recommend against chemicals to fix it. Instead, I would recommend using more live plants. The algae is caused by an imbalance of nutrients and light. So I would say get some more easy live plants. Pothos growing out of the side is a good option too. It is however toxic to cats and dogs IF they eat it. Mine never have so I wouldn’t worry about it. Horn wort and duckweed are other very easy to grow plants.
  11. Do you have any airstones or oxygen source besides plants?
  12. So I’m wondering if I can put a viewing window in this stock tank. It would be two very small ones on each side where it’s very flat. My question is will silicone bond glass to this? Or is there another way to go about doing it? I don’t think filling it with water would have an effect on flexing the plastic because it’s very rigid. Advice needed…
  13. A lot of the time plants don’t do well in sand so I would switch it out completely. Crypts melt back extremely bad so when you add the crypts they should “die” for a while and come back. Also, when you put in that nutrient rich substrate, you won’t need to add root tabs
  14. What about oxygen? Adding med to the water will make it even harder for fish to get oxygen
  15. I wouldn’t imagine dither fish would make to much of a difference in a 20 gallon. I would say something to try would be some black neon tetras (at least six cause they are a schooling fish) that might help. I think a bigger environment with dither fish is what they need. I am assuming they are pretty descent size because they are breeding.
  16. So I am wondering what paint is fish safe. Not spray paint, but I need paint that you can get in a can that you would apply with a brush. Not looking for a pond sealer either. I am finding so much conflicting info on the internet. I need it to paint on to this hardy board that goes around the top of my koi pond I’m building. It shouldn’t be submerged unless it rained so much and it overflowed. But rain will hit it and go into the pond. So I am just looking for a non toxic outdoor paint
  17. I would just keep an eye on the tail. Nothing to worry about unless it gets worse. If I had to guess, it will slowly go away. The guppy is just very big chested. Maybe easy up on the bloodworms and do some frozen brine shrimp and tiny pellets too. I recommend extreme nano
  18. How many glowlights do you have? What size tank?
  19. Can keeping dry food (extreme pellets) in a freezer lengthen freshness? I’m wondering if the difference would be worth even taking up space in the freezer. Anyone had experience with this?
  20. I would recommend reading this. I believe it’s a fungus. https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/fish-fungus?_pos=1&_sid=8b5863a79&_ss=r
  21. What brand is it? It’s to blurry on my screen for me to tell
  22. Yeah your two weeks Is plenty of time. I really do recommend a heater as those guppies will probably get sick if they get too cool.
  23. It’s possible to pull it off, but why do you not want them in your community tank? It would be much easier to get a 10 gallon tank with a small aquaclear and a small heater. Guppies nowadays need to be kept at least around 75° for them to not get sick. As far as instant cycle goes, use some gravel from your other tank and load it up with plants.
