Thanks for the advice on the diet,ive added baby brine and se blood worms to their diet, which seems to have worked as he male has darkened up and is now the clear tank boss and has stopped bullying the corydoras as much as before. Pic attached. I think you are right ScottieB, its probably a L. Curviceps too.

Can you help me to identify what type laetacara species I have? I was sold these 2 as a pair of thayer cichlids. And they have been in my tank for a week now. Can you also please help with the sexing to confirm that I actually have a pair and not 2 males. Beautiful fish with a lot of character. The only issue that I am having is that they are biting the tails of my corydoras a little. Thanks everyone!

Can you help me understand why there are only a few dwarf cichlid options in the hobby? 2 days ago i bought got a pair of Laetacara Thayeri (can anyone confirm that they are infact Thayeri and not Dorsigera?). They are very friendly and full of character. I'm sure more dwarf cichlid species exist in the wild and can be brought into the hobby as the size is ideal for the hobby and most tank sizes.

Hi everyone just came across this forum today. Have always had fish since we were kids. Now have just setup a tank for my son to enjoy. Have 4 platies, 2 mollies, 9 cardinal tetras (xl) and 6 corydoras. All going well, apart being able to feed the Cory's, as the other fish eat their food! I've tried feeding flakes first then dropping sinking pellets or wafers but no luck. I seem to have trained all the other fish to eat cory food. Help!
