  1. Hate to hear that but I'm having the same problem I have a 40 gallon with a bala shark an angel 5 cory cats 6 tetras and 6 zebra Danios haven't had a fish death in a couple years I started a 20 long with 10 neon tetras 3 cory cats everything is great but every time I put a guppie in there it only lasts for 3 to 5 days If you figure it out please pass it along I will do the same.
  2. Thanks to everyone for all the input. This has really given me a lot of good info, and I'm excited about trying to breed the guppies. Like I said I want to have them for family that's interested in the hobby, primarily my very first grandbaby. Her favorite place to be when she's here is in front of the tank. So I'm trying to pass on my limited knowledge to her Momma for now then hopefully to her. I feel like the guppies are a wonderful starting place.
  3. Thank you. I think I'm going to try small amounts a couple times a day. I'll keep an extra close eye on them as I would really love to grow out the guppies and try breeding them for a few family members.
  4. Thank you Daniel. I have the neons in with some young guppies as they were close in size. My hopes were they wouldn't snack on each other that way. The guppies are always looking for stuff to nibble off the plants and substrate, but the neons not so much.
  5. So I just got done with the morning feeding and was thinking. With smaller critters they tend to have higher metabolisms. So with the smaller fish like the neon tetras, would it be better to do a couple small meals a day or just keep doing one a day?
  6. I have six fish tanks that me and my husband maintain and take care of. We love the hobby and wish to learn more. I look forward to being an active member of this group.
