  1. It can take days for that sack to finish! I found that sometimes swishing it in the water can help free some snails that might be stuck in the center, but this also was just how I did it after waiting! you can let the snails hatch then move them over. If they were hung on to a tank they would just fall right in the tank once they hatched.
  2. Thanks! I guess I should probably stop looking for eggs then! my angelfish in a different tank lays them so obviously I thought they would be similar, I didn’t think about size.
  3. yes I have a test kit, however right now Im waiting for the plants to take affect and root in. Without a filter there’a not going to be a cycle so it’s a different process than a filtered tank. I have several tanks from 15 gallon to 150 being well established. nano tanks without a filter spoke to me because of the live ecosystem, so that’s what I’m trying to do. I want this to be more of a focus on the plants than the fish. as for fish I’m thinking maybe an angel fish, or maybe even a pufferfish! Just kidding…. Just a snail and maybe an endler at some point but that’s it. It does look like the same tank! I wanted to really focus on the plants themself and the ecosystem so I’m trying my hand at a nano tank!
  4. They have gone senile? anything that might spook them, like a cat, sometimes my cat can jump scare the fish.
  5. I got aquatic soil, so I think I should be safe, however I do want to want for the monte carlos to finish the ground coverage before I add anything else. I did a quick water change and the water looks much better! The tannins from the wood look to still be leaking. thanks for you help 🙂
  6. Thanks! I didn’t think to drain and refill! I’ll do that. how long did you let your tank “cycle”?
  7. With a tank this size you can look into getting plecos for clean up crew, or Cory’s. +Beware common plecos grow over 12 inches. +Cory catfish like to be in groups of 6 or more and are another great option! +shrimp are fun but beware with bigger fish or even fish that have a mouth that fits the shrimp they will get eaten +Some things I’ve had in my tank that have been fan favorites are red head tapajos, angel fish, blue rams, Cory cat fish and all the loaches!
  8. I have 7 cpd but haven’t seen any eggs, what do they look like? They are such a variety of live to frozen to flaked foods.
  9. I’ve just started my 3.5 cube nano tank, with a bunch of plants, my goal is for tank to be a little ecosystem with 99% plants and maybe 1-2 small fish. There’s currently 1 snail in here, how long till things start clearing up? *There is no filter, but there is quick cycle added, and under the sand you can see the Aqueon plant food pebbles. There is also some fertilizer tablets under the pebbles to insure root growth.
  10. How do you get rid of your pesty trumpet snails? In the tank there are yo-yo loaches, chain loaches but they ignore these snails. whenever the tank is cleaned we syphon as much as we can out of the gravel but they are thriving.
  11. My Congo puffers one eye is swollen and almost shut. I did a water change today (second picture). I woke up this morning and he was like this. The tank is heavily planted and when I did a water change the water was still clean, didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. Does anybody know what this, or has dealt with this? Or know what to do? 1st picture- picture of eye in question 2nd picture - picture after water change (one hour later, more inflamed) 3rd picture- before anything was wrong, healthy eye.
  12. I've had an established tank with 5 angelfish and other community fish for almost a year now, with only 1 casualty, until this. A few days ago a woke up to one of the angel fish dead in the center of tank. I thought maybe it just had something wrong internally and went about my day after testing the water and seeing just a slight ammonia rise. Today I got home from work, and its buddy who was always with it in the back also turned up... I retested everything. Everything was fine, nitrates are the only thing that seem a little high at 15-20. I tested the tap water also, tap tested at 10. I'm not sure why they both passed, but all the other fish seem to be doing fine. If anyone has any ideas on why they might have died, I'd be intrested in hearing your thoughts.
  13. How do you know if eggs are fertilized or not? My golden rams just were caught laying eggs.
  14. I think he is blind in one eye. He has swam like this since we got him six or so months ago. I have a tank he can go in temporary while we get a bigger tank for just him 🙂
