  1. I kinda figured but I went ahead and filled up the hatchery just to see what happens. Thanks!
  2. So I bought brine shrimp eggs from Amazon and they suck. Maybe 50% hatch rate. I did order aquarium coop eggs just waiting for them to get here. In the meantime, I was wondering if I can take the eggs that didn't hatch and run them again? Or if they won't hatch regardless? Thanks in advance!
  3. That's honestly what I was thinking. It looks like someone goofed and put their distributor under every product.
  4. I attached a photo, but I just noticed the website now says "Colin" under each fertilizer. Is there some collaboration with Colin at NiloCG to make the fertilizers?
  5. That's a good idea! And I'll definitely try cleaning the glass. I don't know why I didn't think of that lol. Thank you!
  6. I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy replacement suction cups for the Ziss bubbler bio moving bed filter. Mine are finally starting to fail. I'm still able to push it back on the glass but it eventually will lose suction and I'll find it floating in the tank. Thanks in advance!
  7. Wow, thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for!
  8. So I finally got some German Blue Rams for a 40 gallon breeder tank. I was just looking for some suggestions for tankmates. I'm not going to be getting any until I know I am able to keep these rams alive. The main thing is trying to find fish that work in the same temperature range. So far I am considering a school of either neon or rummynose tetras which both like the heat. I thought about a school of cory cats but I am not sure which do best with the higher temperatures. I believe sterbai do well with it? Or how about another type of bottom feeder you guys would recommend? I have plenty of cory cats in all my other tanks already. I also like to have a pleco in each tank, so maybe some type of smaller pleco that of course can handle the temperature as well. I thought about kuhli loaches but I believe keeping a group of them would be too much for a 40 gallon. Any and all recommendations are welcome! Thanks in advance!
  9. Thanks everyone for even more responses. I intend to leave this open so everyone can provide input and hopefully it can help someone else out looking for a filter. Perhaps I should have started a poll lol. So far it seems like I will have to give AquaClear another try. I just looked up the Danner, which I had never heard of it, and that is a really cool concept!
  10. I REALLY appreciate everyone's input! Thanks guys! However, it looks like I am still stuck deciding between an AquaClear or the Tidal lol. Maybe I will buy one of each and decide which I like.
  11. It would be the same tank. I just didn't know if a typical airline splitter would be okay to handle the pressure of the CO2, especially if I had to use a gang valve to control the flow. I've seen CO2 splitters online which connect the tubbing with barb fittings, like the rest of my CO2 system, so I thought the barb fitting was necessary. However, those splitters are either expensive or hard to find.
  12. I just came accross these https://www.amazon.com/Penn-Plax-Cascade-Aquarium-Filtration/dp/B0002DJ82G/ref=sr_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=Hang+On+Back+Filters&qid=1600128051&sr=8-13. Penn Plax Cascade which seem very similar to the AquaClear. Just wondering if anyone has experience with these?
  13. Thanks for the input. If I had to guess, when you pull the impeller up it helps seat it correctly into the housing. I found with mine if I lift it the noise stops, but then pushing it back in, it is loud again which tells me it's hitting the caging. I think it's just the poor design of how the impeller goes into the housing and then pushes into the cage. I had the AquaClear 30 and every time I did a water change I had to fight it to get it going again which is why I was leery of buying any of their other ones. I like their design a lot other than the pump being on the outside. Maybe I'll buy just one to test it out.
  14. I'm curious on everyone's favorite hang on back filter. Include pros/cons if you can. I currently have 4 tanks, and on my 40 gallon I decided to try out the Marineland Penguin 375 a while ago. I also bought a Penguin Pro 375 for my 55. The pro mostly seems okay, but I am paranoid that the tubing is going to fall off the pump since it doesn't fully click in (which I have read is a common issue). I have 2 more smaller tanks (10 and 20) that have the smaller versions of them. However, at this point, they are driving me insane. A couple don't prime very well no matter how much water I pour in them. My 375 is loud and rattles now. I tried cleaning it out, including the impeller and reseating it to no success. The biowheels, well whatever, they're there lol. I'm currently considering the Seachem Tidal filters, my only drawback I see with those are of course the price and the fact I can't turn off the surface skimmer. I also like HOBs that have decent room for extra media. I use my own filter floss, sponge filter, and Seachem matrix for biological growth. I wouldn't be buying premade filters. I did have an AquaClear on the 20 gallon in the beginning, and I know many people like it and I love the media room, but they never ever re-prime themselves which is why I took it out of service. So with that being said, what is all of your favorites?
  15. I have 2 java ferns and once they produced a ton of baby plants, I glued them to cholla wood and they're all doing great. Once they produce more I plan to either get more cholla wood or glue them to my driftwood. I attached pictures of 2 of my cholla sticks
  16. Does anyone know a good CO2 Splitter or if a standard airline splitter would work? I have a single co2 tank and was hoping to add a second diffuser to more evenly distribute the co2 throughout the tank. Thanks in advance!
  17. Awesome! Thanks for your advice! I think my pleco will come around, he doesn't even act like his fin is broken
  18. Thank you. I do keep up on water changes and testing. Do you think Seachem StressGuard would be a good option?
  19. So I got 2 small bristlenose plecos a couple months ago. This one appears to have a broken fin (hopefully you can see it in the images). I believe this is the one that decided to rocket itself out of the net onto the floor, where I had to quickly scoop it up and put in the tank. I noticed right away one had this damaged fin but wasn't for sure if it was the one that was dropped. Anyway, after a month in quarantine, and another month in this tank, it still appears to be broken. It doesn't seem to hinder it any; it swims around perfectly fine, sucks the glass, and eats the food. I was just wondering if it will eventually fix itself or if it will stay this way? Thanks in advance!
