  1. I've done quite a bit of research, and I think I've finally decided on tankmates for my Asian Upside Down Catfish (75 gallon). I was thinking a Blood Parrot and Electric Blue Acara. From what I've read they will be large enough that my catfish shouldn't bother them and all of their water parameters are extremely similar. Any suggestion on the number of Acaras? I was thinking two or four. I am also open to ideas. Thank y'all!
  2. I'm liking this topic! I rescued a fish (Asian Upside Down Catfish) and he came in a pitiful 5 gallon tank--no heater, awful filter etc. Let's see, I bought a new filter, heater, food, light, water conditioner, tank cleaning supplies to get him comfortable in his five gallon. Then I bought: 75 gallon aquarium, substrate, heaters, thermometer, water testing kit, numerous plants and decor, lighting system, hood, tubing and air hoses, fluval cannister filter, python cleaning system, nets, aquarium stand, and I'm sure there are a few other things I have forgotten. Haven't added it all up yet.....so much for the "free" fish. I also rarely see him--he's nocturnal. Oh--and I still need to buy tankmates at some point.😁
  3. Hi! I was so excited to find this forum. I've had aquariums in years past, but am just now getting back into the hobby thanks to a rescue fish. Long story short, my husband and I thought we were rescuing a "normal" upside down catfish (synodontis nigriventris) turns out we got an Asian/Burmese upside down catfish ( mystus leucophasis). We were definitely not familiar with this guy, and have been doing a ton of research. Unfortunately, there's not too much out there. Right now he's our only fish in a 75 gallon tank. Not sure how old he is, but the fish hater (who was about to flush him) said they had had him for a couple of years. He's only about 4 inches at this point. Anyway, looking forward to talking with some of y'all--hoping to find out more about him, get some ideas of tank mates in the future, etc. Wish I could get a picture, but I rarely see him as it is--he comes out only when all lights (even room lights) are off. Take care!
