  1. It was white when I first saw it this morning. It turned pink after I put him in the QT with salt. I snapped this when I first saw him.
  2. Another view of what is going on. I hate to remove him if it is helping, but I am worried that it could over stress him
  3. I did test ammonia and it was zero in both the 75 gallon and the quarantine tank. I know cories are sensitive to a lot of salt and/or prolonged salt. I’ve been told I can treat with it, but not for too long (I am thinking it was five days…? It’s so hard to keep up with these things and I can never find them later). I’m thinking I am going to remove him from the quarantine and put him back in the main.
  4. I’m hoping someone can help me. I’ve seen this before and I’ve always lost a Corydora to it. The thing is I haven’t seen it in over a year maybe two. Here is the info: Last week I added six green cories to the 75 gallon. They were hatched and raised by a friend of mine. A few days later I was given a CO2 DIY system. So there have been changes in this little guy’s life. Ive been watching my parameters closely after the changes. I tested after removing him and they were nitrates <50, gh 300, KH 120, ph 7.6. I’ve put him in qt with 1 tbs per 3 gallon salt. I’ve used this level before on cories, but he has started having trouble with his swim bladder. He has been in here for a few hours. Any ideas what it could be? Would you remove him from the salt?
  5. Woke up to some problems this morning. First, the water: Nitrates: <50 Gh: 300 kh: 120 ph: 7.6 I am continuing to see issues with my Mollies. I have several with a white film around their eyes. Some are thinning, and begin to have issues swimming. I’ve pulled all of the ones that appear to have this problem and they have been in a 1 tbs per 3 gallon salt QT. Last night I came across a Molly that was pine coning. I moved that fish and a couple more to the QT last night and brought the salt to 1 tbs per 2 gallon. This morning most are looking better… But I had to pull more from the 75 this morning for QT, and then I noticed one of the Corydora Paleatus that I’ve had for some time has white patches and even some red marks on him. So I did a 50% water change from the QT to lower the salt and added 1/2 tbs of salt to bring it back to 1 per 3g. This is the first time I’ve seen this on a Cory in quite some time. I would have to look through my journal, but it may be a couple of years. Could the new cories and the CO2 be stressing it to the point of becoming I’ll? Thanks for any help you may have to offer.
  6. I may try some windelov. I’ve always wanted to have a thick Java fern, but I’ve never been able to get it past where it is. I have also looked at needle leaf. I hope to hear/see how it goes.
  7. Comparison: Nitrates may be a little lighter. KH is definitely down to 120 and pH is definitely 8.
  8. I added DIY CO2 to the 75 gallon last night. I figured I would record the parameters here Din the journal. Nitrates looked below 50 in person, but they may be 50+ judging by the picture. Gh is 300 and KH 180. Ph appeared 7.6 in person, but looks like it could be 8 here. The NICREW light is currently at 75% intensity. The CO2 is about one bubble per minute. It might be because my airline is too long, but it’s been difficult to get that right. I’ve used a metronome on my phone that allows me to tap a beat. I’m above 65 and below 72 average. I think that is seconds between bests/bubbles. I will not adjust the lights or ferts… which I normally would have dosed Easy Green today and didn’t. I may test…
  9. Thanks! They are mixed Mollies. We tried breeding our high fin golden mollies with gold dust mollies. Oh… and this is happening.
  10. I bet someone has been commenting on the videos that soft shell tacos are tacos too.
  11. So I must have missed the drama. Does anyone have an idea of what the topic is about? Haha. I like Cory’s rants, and I’m looking forward to this stream. Oh! Are people still going off on how dirty the canister filter was on the 800 gallon?
  12. Absolutely, I didn’t mean to insinuate that it was the pumps fault. It most definitely was mine for not realizing I needed to clean the airstone. Haha. I was only offering some perspective from someone who had a pump go down. I’m sure there are others who lost a pump to a similar situation, but didn’t realize what may have caused it.
  13. What a introduction! Haha. I picked up carving over the past few weeks. I’m enjoying it. The trick to aquariums is to find what you like and research them. Check out the livestock found at your local store, ask questions, then search YT and this forum. Keep in mind what you like might not be the same thing others like or the trends within the community. Just make sure you like what you are doing. Welcome to the hobby!
  14. I would like to add mine should have been one of the earlier Nano air pumps, and I 100% consider mine going out my fault. I had never used a sponge filter and I had never needed to clean any air stones in the past. So I never thought to clean it.
  15. The moss is probably protecting the fry. You may see better results if you don’t feed your fish as often. They will get hungry and chasing the fry will become worth the effort.
  16. I may be thinking of baby tears, but I believe Cory has recommended putting a root tab in the rock wool and sticking the whole planter in your substrate until it takes off. I don’t have the plant myself, but I know I heard him say that is how he recommends doing one of those plants, maybe both.
  17. Spent a couple more hours on the 75 today. I had to cut out some more leaves, I added the root tabs, I treated some BBA on my Anubias (ugh… Injust realized I didn’t move the Anubias off the glass), and I “replanted” the Java Fern. This was my first water change with the python system. I like to use a 32 gallon garbage can during the summer to water our shrubs with the good stuff, but it’s too cold for that right now. It was nice, but it took a long time to drain. I slipped a AC-O media bag over the end so I didn’t suck up fry, and I changed the water in my QT. A couple of the Mollies are thinning and swimming funny. I cleared the last fry out of the QT, removed the pond snails (Love my snails), and salted the Mollies. I’ll try to get some video of the sick mollies. Maybe I can get some help on those. 40 Seconds with my 75 Gallon Community Tank https://youtu.be/vv-Dp4n6p7k
  18. I’ve been busy and away, but it’s always nice to come back home.

  19. I hope you enjoyed your trip. Did you visit Aquatic Marine and Aquarium?
  20. Since I stopped by, maybe it is time for an update. The post above got into the Molly situation. We have been dealing with some sickness in the family that kept me from anything more than regular feedings and tank maintenance. The duckweed and algae has been a little out of control, but the last couple of weeks I’ve been cleaning out the tank. I just received a shipment from the Co-Op. I picked up the python sink attachment to make winter water changes more easily. Water is expensive in my area, but I can’t really use the water while it is below freezing outside. I have another coarse sponge to add to my canister filter. I have two in there now and this will make three. It’s all sponge, but Ive been switching to coarse. I also grabbed some root tabs. I’ve been out. My Swords and crypts have not been happy. I had to cut out leaves last week. So tonight, they feast! Another thing that has happened recently is that I was part of a group in my area last month to form a fish club. Our area has been sorely lacking a club. We worked through the holidays to build the club. We selected a board to run it, and the club met for the first time the first week of January. Twenty people were there for the first meeting. We had a speaker who did a workshop on how to take pictures of your aquariums, and everyone left with door prizes. Members brought in plants and fish to give out. Our next meeting is February 5th, and our speaker is Kinny Parrot Aquatics, Aquatic Marine, and Aquaticon! if you are in the East Tennessee area shoot me a message and I’ll tell you more. It’s been great meeting other hobbyists in my area.
  21. Yes, and no. I’m still figuring it out. The Levamisole did help, but every now and then I see another person me begin to slim and eventually die. I’ve been trying to keep the water quality as pristine as possible and feed more spirulina. Unfortunately, we had a lot of sickness and the holidays kept me from really keeping things up. I’ve been working on it, but the whole tank became a bit unkept. I’ve been hard at it the past few weeks, and I’m seeing improvement. I found another dead Molly last week. Honestly considering getting out of mollies, but I don’t know what to do with a colony of fish that keep getting sick.
  22. I had a never clog airstone become clogged in a quarantine tank and burn up my Nano air pump. It was weird. I found the sponge filter wasn’t running. Then I realized the pump wasn’t running. I swapped out a whisper air pump… still no air! I took the never clog air stone out, swished it around, loosened it, and it started blowing. When I plugged the pump back in… no go. I guess it burnt up when it couldn’t blow air. Lesson learned, and I have loosened all of my never clog air stones so they don’t clog (and I service them when I clean the sponge filters now.
  23. Welcome to the forum from another Knoxvillian! Great looking tanks.
