    It has been several months without any more issues with the cories. I periodically run the UV sterilizer, I regularly feed with Vitachem infused foods, and I’ve been doing regular weekly water changes even though my parameters remain the same with every test. The little Molly that was staying on the bottom has continued to do so. She does swim up to eat, but If aim looking at the tank from a distance she is resting in the sand, and now there are four more doing it. It’s possible I’ve overfed trying to feed the cories. The Mollies won’t stop eating as long as there is food in the tank. I have removed the inflicted mollies and placed them in QT. I’ve fasted them and fed them a pea. Today will be a day without food again, and I plan on feeding them peas again tomorrow. How long would you wait before you treated them with Maracyn? Keep in mind they were all treated with Maracyn back in December in my big tank. Thank you all for all of your help.

    Ok, so I’ve had this one Molly who stays in the bottom most of the time. She can swim around the tank, but when she does she is always angled up (like she is pulling her weight). She has been like this for several months. This past week suddenly I have three more doing the same thing. Here are my parametrs: Temp 75 Nitrate >10 ppm Ph 8 Kh 8 Gh 13 A few months ago (I need to look it up) I treated the whole 75 gallon tank with Maracyn because of an issue that I had been having almost monthly with Corydora. I did a full treatment. I have included a video. I have removed the four fish and placed them in QT. I salted the tank 1 Tbs per 2 gallon, and I fasted them two days before feeding some peas yesterday. They look the same. Any thoughts from anyone who has dealt with this?

    If I only had the one tank, and I could get my fish from a great store I would not treat with Med Trio every time I bought new fish. The meds can be rough on fish. And constantly introducing the antibiotics to healthy fish could create problems. However there are alternatives to a qt Tank that I would highly recommend. You could get a plastic tote, usb air pump, small heater (if needed), and a sponge filter pretty cheap. Check out this blog. https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/quarantine-tank

    If it’s been less than a week I wouldn’t worry about it. It will most likely correct itself if you leave it alone.

    True, I do understand that. My pH is 7.6-8 I don’t top off my water. And most weeks I do a 15-20% water change. I’ve been toying with the idea of skipping weeks because my nitrates are so low, and that is one of the reasons I am trying to determine what is in my water. I plan on testing my tap water today. I simply ran out of time yesterday. My original concern was that I thought I had hard water, but I wanted to be sure because I want to give my tank inhabitants their best life. I’ve now tested and I do have hard water. It looks like adding something like Wonder Shell would not be beneficial to my setup. Unless my tap water is drastically different (unlikely?) and water changes could be causing issues every week.

    So, I’m thinking I’ll return the wonder Shell. 🤣 From what I’ve read online I could buy another test for calcium, but I think I can watch my plants for signs of deficiency. If I am reading this right, my mollies do not need additional minerals.

    I just tested the aquarium. KH - 7-8 degrees Looks within reason. May explain why I’ve had issues with neons in the past. GH - 13 degrees. Seems high....

    I took this earlier today for the one minute post, but I guess I might as well share in this thread as well. this video is after a water change and I added Vitachem. So it is a little cloudy. You can see that I have removed all of the stem plants. I moved a small Amazon sword and a few crypts into the area. I’m looking forward to it filling in like the middle of the tank.

    Here is one minute of my 75 gallon community tank. Full disclosure I had a water change yesterday and dosed Vitachem today... so it’s a little cloudy. I also recently cleaned out the left side and re-planted an Amazon sword and some crypts over there.

    One week and I have seen the plant transition some. There were a few leaves that yellowed and had to be removed, but the roots look good. I was adding some gravel to the area and accidentally pulled one. I was surprised by the root system already present.

    That was my thoughts as well. Plus I am supplementing my fish’s diets with Vitachem. I have been losing some mollies lately. About one a week for the past three weeks. No issues noticed, just finding them floating in my water sprite the past three weeks. One was a fully mature male that has fathered the majority of my current mollies. I know when I have had Molly questions in the past people have said to add minerals for livebearers. What is the best way to test my water to find out what minerals I have?

    My 75 gallon will be a year old next month. This anniversary reminded me that I haven’t added a temperature troller to my setup to ensure my heaters have a longer lifespan and possible prevent cooking or freezing the tanks inhabitants. The Ink Bird temperature controller went on yesterday, and I am really impressed with the settings. I have it set to 1 degree variance with a temperature of 76 degrees during the day and 74 at night. I believe this will keep the heater within range of my inhabitants preferences (72 - 77 degrees), it may keep my heaters from kicking on and off so much during the day/night, and it may provide a more nature warming and cooling environment doe the inhabitants. Glad that I made the purchase, and hopefully it works to improve my glass box’s environment.

    I have a 75 gallon community tank with Mollies. I have been told it is best to supplement the tank with something like Wonder Shells to make sure the livebearers and plants have a happy life. I have hard water, but I have never tested it. I think I am going to try adding Wonder Shells to my tank, but I was curious how you tell if your minerals are in a healthy range or not? Is Wonder Shell so great that it’s best to add one every few weeks and forget about it? Or should I test my water? I would rather my tank inhabitants and plants have their beat life, but I don’t want to throw money at the tank if it doesn’t need it. Or maybe I just prefer to spend the money on something else for the tank. Haha.

    From experience, the Aquaclear 50 will not fit the black rim of a 75 gallon tank. You will need the larger Aquaclear if you decide to go that route.

    That’s what I plan on doing. My tank is currently in a lowlight situation because I was running my light too intense for too long and started to develop Green Spot and Black Beard algae’s. After a couple of months with the light dialed down to 35% and only 6 hours the Green Spot is gone, and the Black Bears is sparse. So I don’t want to invest in a bunch of people plants while I am still dialing it in, but I know healthy plants can help me find balance. 7 plants x $8... That’s serious. Haha. Did you plant the first three by cup? Or did you break it up some? I had six or seven plants in my cup (I think 😬).

    Beautiful tank! I added the one cup, but it is definitely lost in the substrate. Haha. It’s so small. I love the look of some of the carpets I’ve seen, but it would cost a fortune to have that in less than a year or two. I do have dwarf chain swords currently. I haven’t really wanted a carpet, but I loved the look of Parva. I may just buy some over time. I’m going to watch this first cup and see how it does first. Thanks for the pics!
